BMW service review
So I had some warranty related issues, so I scheduled the car for service. One issue I had was the "No Signal" on the NAV unit, and the NAV unit going from normal to really dim when sitting out in the sun for a while. They said they didn't find any fault codes. If it keeps happening, just make a record of it.
I also had issues with the car not staying in the center of the lane when going on the highway. It will dart to the left or right depending on the road condition. They said this is normal for sport/performance tires, and because of how wide the tires are, and because of the crown in the road. The other concern I had was the speed was incorrect by a few miles, and they also said that is normal. I also asked to see if the shipping blocks were still in the car, because I saw on here another member had really stiff suspension and the ride was uncomfortable. I drove a car with 20's on it, and the ride felt better than my car which have the 19's. They also said this is normal because it is a high performance vehicle. I showed him this thread, so http://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=882801 All in all everything is normal to BMW. However, my SA is a great guy who I know will take care of any issues if they keep happening. I also asked for a comparable loaner, but was offered either an X1, 3 series or X3. Apparently BMW took away the 5, and 7 series, as well as the X5. |

I have had a lot of BMWs since 2006. All of the cars I've had since 2006 have been off by 2 MPH (showing faster than the cars were going). I don't recall that with my older cars but there were a lot less speed limit signs that talked back to you then.

All speedos have built-in error by law!. They must show more than actual speed and dealers do not correct it as long as it's in their normal range. I have seen the letter from dealer that the normal range is 10% + 2.2 mph or 2.6 mph (it's 2 and something not sure ). It doesn't mean that your speedo has 10% error! it means up to 10% is normal;
