How long did you factory battery last
My car is now 5 years old and battery appears fine, though I wonder how much longer it will last. No cold weather starts (Texas/Florida car).
Those who had to replace, was it sudden or gradual...

I took my car in for service this last June (2 years of ownership) and to my surprise they replaced it under warranty saying that there was a code associated with the battery holding a charge.
Princess is stored in rainy days with trickle charger so surprise to me ... but free is free

If you google "BMW SI B61 30 14" you will see that there was a recall on S63 engine battery as well as others. This recall gave me a free battery replacement. I know it doesn't answer your question but in case you weren't aware, now you know.

Not had to replace the M6 battery yet, but on my 645 the original BMW branded battery lasted 10 years. Car was garaged, although did have some cold weather starts. Noticed it was reluctant to start after leaving the radio playing for a couple of hours at a picnic. I actually still have that old battery in the garage - gets used occasionally for light duties when I need a 12v source.

Also, reading the SIN carefully, its states:
F12 (6 Series Convertible) Produced from 3/2013 With the N55, N63T, or S63 engine My car is an 8/12 build so not covered by the bulletin. Maybe the new iDrive and rear lights added to the 2014 models caused the battery issue?

My battery was changed and SA said it was regular BMW maintenance since there are so many electronics on the car. I just said great and thanked him! I wasn't having any problems with the original battery.

Having contacted both BMW UK and my local BMW Centre (Dealership) regarding BMW SI B61 30 14, the answer comes back, 'this is only applicable to 6 Series cars, not the M6'. So I guess they won't be changing my battery any time soon...
