Who Needs Estoril Blue II when there's Tanzanite Blue

So I was totally set on ordering Estoril Blue II over Black Dakota with Hex Trim and Blue finisher. But after playing around with the UK Configurator site, I may have to bite the bullet and see if I can get a US dealer to order this bad boy! I can live on Top Ramen until next May, right?

Tanzanite Blue over Cashmere Beige w/ Hex trim and Black finisher.

Both are great colors! Is Tanzanite Blue the same as Imperial Blue in the states? Those MSport 19" rims look really nice with all colors, but especially the blues

Although I prefer the black interior, I think the beige will be a nice contrast, especially with the aggressive trim.

P.S. Instead of identical, our cars would be fraternal twins now.

Dude, you're freaking me out! I was going to say the exact same thing about the cars being fraternal twins!

From what I can make out here, Tanzanite is a lighter shade of blue than Imperial. It seems close to Mystic Blue from the e46 or perhaps Interlagos Blue from the e9x. My only reservation about Tanzanite is that the mica seems HUGE in the pics, and I prefer BMW's more subtle metallics. Maybe San Marino Blue instead?

I do, however, the contrast between the Cashmere Beige and the black. It reminds me of the Oyster scheme from the e9x series.

Ah, decisions, decisions.

Both the interior and exterior are BMW Individual items, thus my comment about surviving on Top Ramen (cheap, unhealthy noodles). I reckon it would probably cost ~ $8k - 10k to get this build if BMW AG even approved it.

I actually like Imperial Blue but when I saw it on the dealer's showroom floor, I couldn't help but notice how quickly the freshly-detailed car attracted dust and fingerprints. Not a good combo for my OCD.

That is a great combo. I'm not sure if it would be worth 8-10k, but you definitely would have a very rare F30!

The price is definitely steep, but I have a tendency to keep cars for a long time (bought my e46 in August of 2001). Who knows? By the time I order next May, BMW may open up the color pallette a bit or I might decide to go with either the paint OR the interior.

definitely a nice combo but yeah, not sure it's worth an extra 8-10k when you don't even get anything extra, just another choice. I'd pay a little extra if I really loved the color, but don't think it's worth 10k extra. 10k extra should upgrade the car not just open up additional color options, IMO.. Think of what else you could do for that 10 grand (M335 anyone?).

How do you come up with $8-$10K?

The prices are on the configuator. The paint is 1360GBP which is about $2100 and the leather is 1215GBP, about $1800 USD.

The prices of the cars are less in the US than the UK so maybe the cost of Individual options are less as well... ???

BMW Individual prices in the US don't seem to correlate to prices in other markets. When I began shopping for my e46 in 2001, Topaz Blue wasn't a standard color on the sedans and I was quoted $2500 just for the exterior paint (fortunately it became standard in March of that year). Another friend ordered her e46 M3 in Dakar Yellow and paid $3k for it. This, in combination with other threads 'round these parts leads me to believe that an Individual exterior color would stay in the $3 - 4 k neighborhood with similar or possibly higher pricing for the interior treatment.

As to the value proposition, yeah, that seems an awful lot to spend on paint and fabric colors, but I'm renowned for being a seriously picky SOB willing to throw in a few extra ducats to get things suited to my tastes. I also quite like the idea of having a combo that's somewhat rare.

Some of the options in UK are not that expensive. Don't forget the prices quoted already include 20% VAT.

I could, but I'd rather have the factory paint. Just a personal preference.

Why would you pay $5,000 for Tanzanite Blue and still get M-Sport when Estoril is a regular color and costs (literally) 10% as much? Maybe go with Individual leather, but don't blow $10,000 on Individual inside and out on a 335i (which will end up costing more than an F80 M3).

I still like the look of estoril better, but that is also a nice blue.

That is a great color and interior combination, one of my favorite . That color looks much better in reality then on the configuration site, for example see this pic:

Tanzanite blue

I ordered a tanzanite blue 328i F31 with m sport package last week. I haven't seen the color other than in the web configurator and the shots of the BMW 6 series that was referred to earlier in the thread. I really hope it is as nice in reality as I think it is. As for the interior, I chose alcantara/cloth.

In Sweden, the price for tanzanite blue is 19 000 SEK inkl. VAT (1700 GBP or 2700 USD).

The car is supposed to be delivered by September.

If anyone have more pics of the Tanzanite blue, it would be appreciated

For that matter, why order the M-sport package or any of the appearance details at all? Why buy the N55 when the N20 performs 90% as well and gets better MPGs?

It's not about absolute value. Rather, it's about perceived value in the eyes of the purchaser. If I walk out to my car daily and think "Well, I don't really love the color, but I saved $$$" then it's not really much of a savings at all. If, OTOH, I walk away from the car and can't help but look back (which I still do with my Topaz e46), then it's worth spending the money. Life is short. The car represents a major investment of cash. I (and everybody here) should buy something they're thrilled about and enjoy it every day.

That was actually a really good answer. I guess I don't seem that much value in the color of a car since it will only make me more paranoid about driving it. Like you said, life is short, and I prefer driving to worrying about parking far enough away and getting rock chips on my expensive paint.

Regardless, make sure you post pictures up because I think it's a beautiful color
