Exclamation $10,000 off Sticker at EastBay BMW...

Was out this weekend and stopped in at BMW of Pleasanton, CA. and the SA said they were not making anything on the 6 series because they were dropping 10K off the sticker on all 6 series...

Was this for just 12's or '13's as well?

I saw a 2012 Imola Red M Sport coupe at my dealer that has been there for about 6 months. It has B&O and M Sport, but no Nappa Dash or LEDs, so I personally wouldn't have gone near it even if I were considering a red 6er. It had a sticker price of about $102k, and they were trying to unload it for $91k.

While this is a very good savings, it is about on par with the deal I got when I ordered my 6er in the middle of last November pretty soon after the coupes started hitting showrooms. I think a lot of it depends on the market, but, in this case, it seems like in this case they are just eliminating the negotiation process and making about the same profit that they did when they sold me my car.

I think the fact that "$10,000 Off MSRP" sounds like a good deal that will help move these '12ers that have been sitting around, a 6er has such a high profit margin at MSRP that $10,000, while sizeable, isn't as spectacular as it sounds once you run the numbers.

I don't mean to sound like a party pooper, but a lot of these deals seem to be geared toward the walk-in customer looking at going MSRP down rather than invoice up. It obviously works though since this red coupe was finally being moved off the lot.

I agree with you '12's are not a good choice at this point. Actually they should be offering more than 10k to move them considering the large profit margin on the 6.

Interesting note - USAA current discount on a Imola/Ivory 2013 650 coupe optioned with my specs ( M sport, LED's, Exec Pkg, 373 rims) is already $13,500 of list. Pretty good considering early in the model year. If I can combine this with a year end incentive should be a excellent deal. My only issue is wanting the Idrive update which kicks in with March builds. Have to see how it plays out.
Still conflicted on the B&O - really want to hear the system, no 6 around has had it.

So can you get that $13,500 off msrp at anytime through USAA? I am guessing that is only for people that have served for our country and their family? That is really great that they offer that.

BTW I would get the B&O, it makes the interior look so much better. If I were given the choice, I would choose the B&O system over what the new idrive system offers. Not that you have to choose between them, but that is how much I think the B&O is worth it.

djsaad1,

Yes, I can print out a pricing certificate from the USAA website & take it to the dealer any time. Now the interesting thing about about their program is the discount will periodically increase through the model year. For instance they started my build pricing for '13 at $13,200 discount. Just went up $300 this week. Will keep increasing.

Have you actually listened to the B&O in the 6 series? It certainly looks fantastic - but is it worth $3400? That's my dilemma. And of course if I hold out for the new Idrive version, it costs nothing extra.

I listened to the B&O and it sounds great, but I haven't heard the premium so I don't really know if I would be able to tell much of a difference. I seriously based my decision just on looks, I think it makes the interior more unique.

If the discount keeps getting greater, then yes you should keep waiting for the Idrive. If it's $300 added per month that is $1500 more by March. Considering you are not going to be a bmw financial customer, I am not sure the December incentives will be any better.

You are much more patient than I am, I was going to wait for the new Idrive and then couldn't help myself and placed an order at the end of September. After talking to bimmerretrofit it seems like they should have a retrofit in less than a year.

Lightbulb Great Info!

Has anyone heard about Pen Fed? When i was over at the Porsche Forum, many of the guys commented on their rates, and if you purchase thru them there is an additional discount.

Website >>here<<

Oh and realistically, $3400 is nothing when talking about high end stereo's... I just put $7000 into my tacoma, and we felt that was a good price considering the quality of the components used...

Of course In the 6, it better be High-end, and I still need to hear one.

I have trouble finding auditory fault with the Premium, even with my compressed iTunes music. As a matter of fact, if the B&O didn't exist, I think I'd have trouble finding fault with its looks as well - the plastics are very high quality. However, the B&O does exist, and it makes the Premium look boring by comparison.

If the sound quality is truly the deciding factor, then listen and see what you think. If the B&O looked identical to the Premium, there is no way I'd pay the extra money. But it doesn't - it looks exclusive, sleek, and modern - perfect for the F12/13. You pay a premium for some B&O-engraved tinsel, and I think the value if that to the buyer is a major factor.

Sounds shallow and superficial, but I think that's the case for to those of us who aren't true audiophiles (defined as those who would pay $3700 for a visually identical B&O system).

I was very much tempted to get the B&O, but my salesperson advised me against it when ordering. She said that yes, B&O looked and sounded nice. But unless I plan to LIVE in the car, much better to spend the money on upgrading my home theater setup So I ended up with the BMW Professional Sound, which is more than decent

And I forgo the BMW navigation (optional here) and HUD as well. My android has way better functionality and screen than the BMW system

I have taken my test drives in premium equipped 650's and the last one I brought a CD to really test it. It honestly sounded great. I obviously can't compare to the B & O since I have never seen one. The looks are superb, and that's what makes it hard to resist on it's own. I think the year end incentives are going to be good - Jon Shafer certainly thinks so. As I can likely add them to USAA program, worth waiting.
And on the IDrive, what's the deal on a idrive retrofit? I mean the new system has all new hardware- what are they telling you for cost & complexity
to retrofit?

I pretty much put everything on it. With the residuals being so high right now and the money factor so low, I figured if there was ever a time to fully load a car it was now.

This is also my first bmw and I wanted to try out all the gadgets. My past few cars have been range rovers, and the electronics/gadgets on the range rover don't even compare.

I really liked the frozen bronze and my wife really liked the amaro brown/opal white interior. So we pretty much ended up with the same car as all of the gran coupe marketing material.

I have always bought the current year or in this case 13' in 12'. I personally like to negotiate from dealer invoice (which is public knowledge) What rebates BMW does with it's dealers based on volume is something consumers have no control over. I paid $1500 over invoice for the first GC sold from the #1 volume dealer in Northern CA. The agreed upon price took about 5 minutes to close the deal. No trade (sold previous car privately to husband's friend) and he had no idea if I was buying or leasing.

How does one go about acquiring the Dealer invoice?

Using USAA

I've been thinking about getting the 13' 640i GC. I have USAA so I will be using the USAA car buying service and taking advantage of the saving, but my question is will you get the holiday credit ($3500) on top of the USAA discount?

Also, does anyone know if there's a big difference between the standard sound system and the premium sound system? There's a 2013 GC with all the options I want (driver assist package, luxury seating package, cold weather, full LED lights, 19' wheels, BMW apps) except premium sound. I'm thinking about getting it because the driver assist package is hard to find in my area, but I'm concerned about the standard system being crappy.

Thanks for your help.
