Exclamation BMW F06 640d GC xDrive with M Package lowering with ACS springs

Hello,

i own a BMW F06 640d GC xDrive from 2015 (so with the Facelift) and have the full M-Package and Adaptive Drive installed.
For wheels i use the BMW 20" 373M wheels for summer and BMW 18" 613M wheels for winter.

I am thinking about to lowering my car now with the AC Schitzer springs designed for the GC xDrive 3133212710/3353212510.
As i can read on the website of AC Schnitzer, this should be lowering about 30mm in front and 20mm in rear.
The installation would be done by an official BMW dealer with chassis measurement after the installation, so no homebrew botch.

I have the ACS springs already at home and have an installation schedule for next week, but I am not sure now, if i should do it.
I researched a bit in German forums and there some thought that the handling would be deteriorated, since just the M-package should have its problems.

Quote:
Reason: the M chassis is already lower than series and here springs and dampers are optimally matched.
If you now have a component - e.g. The springs for shorter exchange changes the wonderful handling of the M suspension so negative that you will have no joy. Giving up just for the optics makes no sense.
Your limit range in which you can drive the car shrinks by "only springs" by 40% because the chassis is now completely unbalanced.
Can anybody confirm this and are there any more disadvantages after the installation?

Would be nice to get a professional feedback and user reviews.
Thanks!

not going to be much of a drop with those springs. Should be fine with handling

Are those springs 640 d specific? If not, Because you have a 640d, no one really knows what will happen. No 640d's in the states at all, which is where most of the members of this forum are located.

If I were you, I would want to know the weight of the diesel motor v. the six cylinder v. the 8 motor, so you can see where the weight falls. You may end up seeing more of a drop if the diesel motor weighs more than the gassers, and it also may ride differently than designed, ie bigger drop but have more bounce.

ACS springs are the smallest drop but the best riding of the aftermarket springs, so if the weight of the motors isn't too far off you should be fine.

The good thing is that if you don't like the result it is easily reversible.

Hello,

yah i live in Austria/Europe and there are just 640d arround me. Very hard to find a "i" model.
As i can see on internet their should be not much weight difference to the 640i engine.
but we will see in 2 hours... the car is already at the dealer for the modification

yes it should be just the "smallest" drop. if i reach the 25-30mm i am happy enough

Hello,

the build in is done and it looks amazing.
Before i could insert 3 fingers on the front wheels, now i can insert 1 1/2. so about 25mm lower like before.
At the rear it is the same. Looks awesome already with winter wheels.

handling i can't say anything bad about. doesn't feel any negative differences like with original springs.
attached there is the BMW KDS protocol.

Here is my KDS protocol.
It looks good, i think.

the Sturz on the left rear is just 17 minutes more like on the right rear but within the tolerance.
and on the front Strutz, there is also 15 minutes difference on left to right.
