So a performance tuned, high end version of a mid size sedan is faster around a track than a large sized sedan tuned more for motorway cruise with entry-level engine.
Thanks for the info. |

I just got a 2018 640 gran coupe and i can tell you this is a whole new level. Go for it. You`ll be impressed. Just don`t expect it to be as fast as your M3.

if you're worried about resale value...you shouldn't buy a 6-series at all. If you want to gauge resale value, look at how much a 2008 E63 645 or 650 is valued at today. Look how much a early model (2012) 640 is valued today.
Warning: You better sit down when you read this: A 10 year old entry level 6 series is worth no more than $15k at 88k miles. E63 were easily $65k or so MSRP, and were selling at $30k 3-4 years after delivery. No different than the 2015 model you want. These cars depreciate like a rock. If you want a BMW that is easier on depreciation, buy a M car. You can get a nice 2013 E92 M3 in the low $30k and that car will depreciate max $8k in the next 5 years. Even after buying the M6GC myself, I'm concerned about how fast my car will depreciate. I'm betting the M6 GC variant will be the most coveted version of the 6 Series chassis cars, but it'll still won't hold value better than a M3 or M4 of same value today (2015 M3 ZCP). But I saw that a well maintained 2008 E60 M5 or E63 M6 will still fetch a cool $30k today. And frankly, if I was buying a E60 M5 today, I would only pay max $30k for a super clean model with less than 60k miles. But me talking about M6 depreciation is like saying I'm the tallest midget in the room. The 6 series and 7 series and the SUVs will all eat it big time 10 years after build.

My wife just bought a CPO 2015 640i. Beatiful machine, and barely 24K on the clock when she bought it. It looks like it was hardly ever used, so condition-wise I'm very impressed with it. Paint was 90% flawless also.
But she didn't buy it because she knew it would hold its value. Think about it: she bought it for literally half the new sticker only three years ago. Think about what it'll be worth three years from now! If you are worried about depreciation, this is a terrible choice. If you like a gorgeous four-door, then go for it. |

I think it will plateau around 20-30k mainly because its better ( this is my opinion lol) than the F 10 5 series, and the new G30 5 series! looks and drive. What helps the F06 in particular is the ( relatively ) short production time and low Sales ( the Scarcity of Grand coupes) help keep value up.
