Makes it look like an old persons car to me. I don't care if other higher-end MFG's have rag tops, it makes the car look dated IMO, and its not even out yet, LOL.

A modern world should have modern convertibles, nothing classy about a cloth-top IMO.

I had a Suzuki Samurai back in my younger years, that POS top is about all I can think of when I see cloth or "rag" tops...

Just curious, but what four seat convertible isn't an "old person's car?" The very nature of the 6er, CLK/E-Cabriolet and similar cars is to be a relatively soft, cushy car, and the convertible versions by their very nature will be heavier and less sporty still.

Nothing looks worse than a huge, accordion style hard top, just look at the ungainly E93 lines to see what happens when you try to cover four seats with a bunch of folding metal or plastic. Two seaters can sort of pull off the folding hard top, but still tend to have a really high, unsightly beltline, like the Fezza California, SLK, etc. Only the current Z4 seems to be capably of pulling off the look without really tall rear fenders.

Bentley continental still has a soft top ! I for one prefer the soft tops.

I wonder if this will hurt them against their competitors? Haven't they all gone to folding hard tops?

The most interesting feature is the sculpting of the leading edge of the door and front fender. Otherwise, it is a pretty bland makeover.

They say its the nicest BMW ever made but it looks pretty weak to me. Not that it looks bad, but it looks bland like others have said. Doesn't really stand out like when Audi made the A5/S5 everyone said WOW! Who knows maybe it looks better without the camo or in person.

hmm soft tops are realy nice, but they are bad choice for Europe (mean north of the continent). Keeping soft top clean during winter is a labour. But what I want to say... Where did the info about hard top for winter come from? I just think that shape, lines and apertures on the hood look as it were a hard top... seriously, look at the hood of E93 and than compare to those in the picture.. If I'm wrong plz tell me

Oh come on, you know that's not true. The E93 looks pretty darn good as a hardtop. Sure they could've done a bit better job...

Hard top as an option?

I would only own a convertible if it were a hardtop.

its not ugly but its not the best looking either. the E46 hard top replacement looked way better IMO what makes it look bad is the shape of the trunk its too flat on top maybe thats why. needs alittle shape

The roof lines look just like my previous 650i cabrio soft top. Nice! It looks like it hasn't changed much at all except maybe headlights and rear end?

Here is mine compared to the new one:

The E93 looks better than anything else with top, and that is how you drie a convertible. What is funny is that the 3 Convertbible never sold so well when it had soft top. It sells better than A5 Cabrio and E-Cabriolet. The most 3 Series E92/93 here are convertibles and not coupés.
