Question Exhaust voiding warranty?

Thinking of getting the Akrapovic exhaust for my F13. It does have some time left on the warranty / maintenance plan. Will these become void if I put on the exhaust? Also planning to get catless downpipes (AMS) later.

I guess there's always DINAN... but I'm not a fan of the sound compared to Akrapovic.

The Akra is the Same as the BMW M performance exhaust ... if you did the BMW M exhaust - likely a bit more cost as it is M-Perf Part - but can't see a warranty issue for either one

I did the akra and saved $2000 canadian as the M-Perf was more ... My dealer installed it at 2000 km on my 2016 M6 Cab

The BMW dealer installed it for you? They didn't give you any qualms about the warranty?

Not a one ... the BMW M-Performance exhaust is the Akra unit but with the BMW M-carbon fibre tips on it ... the BMW Perf Parts Akra exhaust was $12,500 canadian, and the Akra Evo directly from Akrapovic ran me $10,000 Canadian with the Akrapovic CF tips, and was shipped directly to the parts department of my BMW Dealership, and they installed it ... My BMW Dealership Parts Manager apologized that they could not match the price for the Akrapovic exhaust with the Akra Carbon fibre tips if they sold me the BMW Perf Akra exhaust, He said that BMW Controls the price and they obviously have a mark up and it is likely not just the cost of the BMW Specific CF Tips ... He also confirmed that the BMW Akra exhaust with the BMW Perf Parts CF tips was 100% identical (less the BMW M Perf Specific tips) to the Akra Evo exhaust even down to the mounting points and hardware that came with it .. and even the packaging!

Go Figure ... anyway to squeeze another $2500 and give you tips for that $2500 ... is it worth the extra $2500 ... .. I am sure we could just order the BMW M-Perf tips for much less off the internet if one would really want them!

The Underside of even the BMW specific exhaust says Akrapovic and has an akrapovic part number on it ... so I don't think they could void the warranty if either unit were to be installed - the Akra or the BMW M perf parts Akra ...

good luck bro ... many choices to be made ... it is just too bad that they build and sell the M6 with such a poor exhaust note ... the New Mercedes AMG GT-s has a very wicked exhaust tone and fully done up is less than a fully done up M6

on a side note - my BMW dealer also ordered and installed the supersprint catless downpipes at 1500 km as well ... no issues or questions re warranty ...

so now I am running the akrapovic and the Super Sprint down pipes and both installed and backed by my BMW dealer ...

Good luck bro ... it comes down to relationships in my books!

Catless is illegal here, AFAIK (California). Thanks for all the advice, I will look into Akrapovic more.

By California law, for any car, THEY will have to prove in a court room that the exhaust caused the issue with the car. Short answer, NO it will not void your BMW warranty.

I have a new Jeep SRT and M6 GC that we did major upgrades, such as exhaust. The dealers were cool and informed me about the law. They also perform all my warranty work. I only had one issue with the IDIOTS at East Bay BMW, who would not reprogram my AC's IHKA because I have Dinantraonics. After waiting a month for the part, they told me I would have to remove it before they can fix my AC. Dinan stepped in and solved the problem. I'm filing a law suit against East Bay BMW.

EVERY PLEASE AVOID EAST BAY BMW!

The performance parts were installed by a non-dealer performance shop. I have come to find out the dealers charge more and have less experience installing high perfromance parts.

I hope this helps.

No one will know if this will void a warranty.
Each dealership handles warranty issues their own way.

My friend with a 2015 Z BMW has an Eisenmann exhaust. Still has the factory cats installed.
Check engine light came on for Oxygen Sensor fault which there is a BMW Bulletin for revised ECU software and 2 BMW dealerships denied repairs due to aftermarket exhaust claiming this was the issue.
It took a lot of phone calls to BMW NA to get this resolved.
So look into the mods that you are performing and ask if your dealership is mod friendly (doesn't hurt to ask)

Best option then if you are concerned would be go with the BMW M-perf Akra ordered through your BMW Dealership ... should be no issues with warranty!!!

My dealer even worked with K&N on my last M6 Cab (2007 with the V10 - to develop the correct set up for the cold air intake and eliminate the CEL)

It truly comes down to your dealer and your relationship with them (Volume of cars you buy, if they also are clients of yours (I'm a dentist and they are), support for their charitable events (Vancouver Island Children's Health Foundation Fund Raisers is one of their main pushes every year and I am a sponsor), xmas baskets for the dealer, my mechanic, the parts and service departments)

It boils down to "A$$, CA$H or GRA$$ ... no one rides for free!" and your relationship with your dealer and their support and backing for you really depends on the relationship you foster with them!
and I think that is true for any relationship business or otherwise ... can't skimp on investment!

If worried - do the BMW M-Perf parts Akra ... NO WARRANTY ISSUE THERE AS IT IS A BMW PART!

Enjoy the car Bro!

Hope it helps
