The weight reduction is really exciting, hopefully it lives up to the expectations and the headroom created by the use of lighter materials will not be filled with useless, heavy comfort-related crap.
As for the All-Wheel-Drive M5/M6, after driving my tuned 335i for a few years I came to realize that AWD is really a must for high-powered cars. Regarding the RWD vs AWD, my question is, why can't an on-the-fly switcheable system be made, especially since we will be in 2017 by then ? If you keep the weight distribution at 50/50 and alter all the electronic programs of the DSC, vectoring, ECU etc. to suit either RWD or AWD, you can just decouple the front using an electronically-controlled front or center diff and switch from RWD to AWD at the press of a button, with minimal drivetrain losses. |

SCOTT26, thank you for all the inside info you provide us. Most of us look forward to them. I do however apologize for the others who are always so negative and always complain about the info or renderings that are provided. There's always gonna be that one guy, or guys, who simply feel that they have to talk trash or shit about what's coming up.
Again, thanks for all the info and please keep providing more in the future. :-)

Internally the RR is known as the worlds most advanced luxury car. And with economies of scale the same structure can be used on the BMW 9er and allow both cars to coexist.

A taller greenhouse would completely change the look of this render. It would become un-proportioned and wouldn't have the elegant look the designers are going for.

On your note about needing the optional xdrive there are a few of things that BMW are missing currently; a quick glance at Autocar and Auto-express for example has me noticing... a) the new Merc Supercar being discussed b) the A3 saloon with it's LED headlights and LED tail lights (yet not our 3 series) c) the new Audi TT getting rave reviews d) discussion about a new McLarens I know I'm discounting some of BMW's developments but we have no Supercar (e.g.to take the fight to the Turbo S/650s), no top end sports car (AMG GT or 911 GT3) competitor, no Audi TT competitor, no rear led lights and only a handful of cars with led front lights option, no M tourer/wagon cars etc etc BMW may have the best looking company car/sports car (i8) but it's got a lot of catching up to do in other areas IMO |

@SCOTT26
What about the engine? Same 4.4l V8? New "B" based 4.0l V8? Or new V10? And what about the front overhang, will it be the same or shorter? Odly, the 6 Series has the longest front overhang of the whole BMW line-up. |

Fact is Scott26 is a marketing confection. Scott26 and Scott27 and other superfan engagement managers at BMW welt love this. You are the medium. Enjoy the message but don't be fooled, there are many swivel-eyed whitecoats at BMW keenly making notes about our tastes and what not do. So express freely, hopefully the lights are on and someone is listening.
