M6 vs M5 exhaust on 650?

I understand the M6 mufflers are a direct fit on 650 coupe. And the M5 mufflers will "fit" with hanger mods. Anyone confirm this?

Anyone cut off the tips and surround of the 650 coupe and weld on new tips? Pics? Thanks.

Fwiw: I'm considering a different rear diffuser so quad tip would be needed. Thanks for input.

Any semi-skilled muffler shop can do what you are asking for.. I would get dual 3.5" tips

So do the M6 or M5 have that size?

I believe the tips on the M5 or M6 are dual 3" so depending on what diffuser you go with it may look right or it may look off.. Best thing would be to buy the diffuser first and then measure the opening for the tips and go from there

Here are two pics sent from Eisenmann. They are suggesting M6 exhaust will not fit the 650 coupe, but I think that has been heard before. Anyone see anything other than moving some hangers?

M6 exhaust on 650 Convert...

It will fit. The M6 engine site up a little higher. So at the front bend the pipes will touch floor board of car. We cut the manifold mounts/Pipes of both an welded the M6 exhaust mounts to the 650 exhaust to gained 1/4". You could use a spacer.

Also your X straps gap does not leave enough room for the larger diameter M6 exhaust. The X straps have slotted holes for adjustment. We bent the X straps for exhaust room. I talked to the dealer about this and they said that that was fine. No harm.

I did the Dinan stage 3 and with the M6 exhaust and the car (650 Conv) sounds awesome. Quiet and deep when driving and a little loud on accel. All is great.

Has anyone had the exhaust tips and the flush mount trim removed from M Sport exhaust and replaced with quad tips?

I ended up getting an OE M5 set of mufflers and wonder out loud what I would gain putting the M5 exhaust on. I can say the M5/6 mufflers are much smaller than the 650 M Sport. Comments?

I upgraded the rear bumper to the M6 look. Also i opted for the Eisenmann quad tips exhausts, wich fits perfectly to the 650i diffuser.
For the M6 bumper you will need to adjust the mounts, by simply bending them accordingly.

Originally my car, 640i, had the 650i exhaust mufflers installed. But i wanted more noise, so i went with Eisenmann and i'm very happy.

I still have the 650i mufflers, if someone wants them.

This is how mine turned out. I have carbon black metallic, so the bumper trim piece was painted body color and I have the OEM M Performance carbon fiber diffuser installed along with the OEM M Performance carbon fiber lip spoiler. I used OEM M6/M5 mufflers/tips. I think it turned out great. Sound is much better. Deeper tone and great idle.

Do you have any videos of how this turned out sound-wise? Looks great.

Wish I still had that car! Even my neighbor misses hearing me start it up. The OE M exhaust is a nice compromise.

Hello Mansory,

I was wondering if your 650i mufflers are the M-Technic (Black Chrome tips) or standard version (Regular Chrome Tips)

If these are the M Sport exhaust, I would be interested in buying them...and please PM me with details to contact you.

Thank you
