Interesting that the M235i is fastest to 80km then slowly fades, making it the fastest at legal street speeds. I supect that the M2 would then be even faster...

I think that is probably because the M235i had grip, whereas the M4 and M6 are much trickier to launch without making a mess of it! Also the 7 speed M-DCT has a habit of breaking traction on each gear change which the 8 speed auto doesn't do.

well the numbers show how they launched the cars beside the wet road.
In normal condition and dry road if you launch the cars correctly (not to floor it while DSC prevents jumping off the line) you will see M6 is much faster than both cars! I'm sure you will realize M6 can reach 60 mph in 3.6-3.7 second EASILY... you should be interesting to watch this video about M5 : see 2:10

Ha, you are still at it. Your car is fast - in a straight line. But let's be honest, if the road starts to turn, you will get crushed. I'm trying to count how many times the M6 has won a comparison - or even better, put down a decent time at the Nürburgring. You and I both drive a boat - a car that has not received much respect in the community - nor has it deserved it.

So what if the M6 can reach 60 in 3.7? (and yet, few have ever recorded that) - studies prove, the M235 owner is much happier with his/her car.

I've just come out of a modified F80 into an M6CP, both different cars with different attributes.
F80 struggled to lay it's power down, 305 tyres helped that a lot.It was good on A and B roads but gathered your full attention on speeds north of 100.Lots of people like the twitchiness of the M3/4 but I wouldn't drive it in setting 3 as the gear shifts upset the car.

M6 is also very good on A and B roads, I put this down to the CP suspension .North of the 100 it's begging you to floor it as the handling comes into its own.In my opinion it puts its traction down better and offers more slip in mdm and setting 3 does not upset the gear changes. It offers a more refined drive at cruise speeds in comfort.

Both great cars that you can send your missis down to the shops in, for me both cars can be docile or an absolute animal, and that's what the M brand stands for.

I dont' have an M4, but I had an E92 M3 and now the F13 M6 CP. The M3 is much better on the track (although the M6 is FUN!). The M3 is more nimble and fun in the city and if you want to weave through traffic (not my thing). The M6 is much better on the highway. The endless power is amazing. The M6 gets many more looks and compliments as well, and is much more comfortable for long drives.

So on a track the M3/M4 absolutely. 0-60 IDK. 60-155 the M6 wins every time.

I've owned an M4 and switched to M6 GC comp. No question M6 is quicker in a straight line. On the track M4 would probably win.

Well if I am not mistaken by "road starts to turn" you are referring to tracks and I don't think there is any significant difference between M4 and M6 on most of tracks... you should be interested to watch this video where the M5 (30 Jahre) is just 0.1 second slower on a track... just keep in mind that the driver is M4 owner with over 6 months experience with his M4 and "zero" experience with M5. I believe we can argue M6 is faster than M5 on track due to lighter weight, lower center of gravity (thanks to CF roof) and wider wheel track... As far as Nurburgring, there is no result for M6 available but M4 has done 7:52 while M5 has done 7:55 so for the same resean I believe M6 must be couple seconds faster than M5 (and probably M4) but overall I agree with you that smaller/lighter cars can be controlled and "fun to drive" better than large/heavy cars...

I guess I should have clarified my statements about the track. Around here (Boston) the tracks are very tight and "technical". Strongly biased toward corner happy cars like the M4 vs some larger tracks with long straights that may cater more to raw power.

Great cars across the board

"studies prove, the M235 owner is much happier with his/her car."

What studies. I went from an E93 to a loaded six speed M235i, and ran back to an E93 in 4 months/6,000 miles. I now have an F12 M6, which I love except I must admit is is soooo big I am having issues with seeing the front in tight spaces.

M4 vs M6 on the autobahn

I have driven both an M4 and M6 at speed on the autobahn (170 mph for the M4 and 190 mph for the M6) -- the autobahn is certainly not just a straight road --and from my experience, I would rate the M6 as the superior vehicle. In particular, the M6 was more stable at high speeds, and from 120 mph onward, it still pulled strongly, whereas the M4 just does not continue to accelerate at the same pace once at high speeds. I also find the M6 interior to be a more inviting and comfortable environment for sustained high speed travel. Do not get me wrong, the M3/4 is a great car, but on the autobahn, I would rather be in an M6, and frankly, it probably offers a better experience than being in most exotics.
