Has anyone switched/compared from m6 to x6/5m ??
I love my M6 Gran Coupe but I need a softer and a bigger car, I was wondering if anyone switched or compared x5m or x6m, Because I don't want the car to be as rough, I need much softer, especially on bumps, or am I looking to step in same shoes ? Thanks !

The DCT in the M6 is an amazing piece of engineering (seriously!). The logic and intelligence of the DCT is night and day compared to the tranny in the X5M. You really have to drive the two vehicles to truly understand what I am saying -- mind blown difference. The X5M is also 1,000+ pounds heavier than the M6 which is quite a bit of additional weight in comparison. My M6 feels ungodly fast compared to the X5M but I really think it has a lot to do with what I just explained... Transmission and weight. Other than those two things the X5M is a badass vehicle. I love driving it and it fits the family perfectly. The Wife can now get the groceries with lightening fast speed and there is no more melted ice cream. Brian

I bet the new X5M is a lot faster than 13 model. It has new transmission and more torque TOO, but as Brian said MUCH HEAVIER

The new X5M does have a new 8 speed transmission which I am sure is better than my 2013 model. It's still a slush-o-matic though which is disappointing. I guess the DCT cannot handle the weight of the vehicle or something? Bummer!
I bought mine lowered on H&R springs and it still rides pretty damn good especially in comfort mode. I don't like the drop on the H&R springs though so KW coilovers are on the way. I think you would be happy with it but just go into the deal knowing the M6 is a completely different machine. If you can't handle the bumps in your city the X5M would probably be a good choice. Although you may want to look into the Porches as well - they make a mean SUV. Brian |

I have a '15 M6 GC comp pack while my wife has a '13 X5M (which I drive when we go out on the weekends with our 16mo old). While the X5M is a 5000+ lb rocketship, you definitely feel that extra weight compared to the M6 GC. I will admit that the ride in the X5M is much more compliant than in my M6 GC (note both cars are stock). You can really tell/feel the difference on these Chicago roads.

As you can see there is plenty of wheel gap left which annoys the piss out of me. I am having the KW coilovers put on next week on the 3rd so I will follow up with a another post then. The KWs should allow me to get rid of nearly all the wheel gap which will look pretty nice. Brian

I went M5 to x6m and I can honestly say that the M5 was a nicer ride. I had the x6m for almost a year and moved over to a 650i gran coupe which is a much nicer ride than both and also has AWD for the snow we get. I don't think you will be happy with a x5/x6m
