On another note, the new Merc looks much smaller than it's older model. It has become more of an SLK and lost much of its presence and elegance (such a toy-ish design). It doesn't justify its enormous price tag.. While the M6 has grown into a better 'all-rounder' monster and offers so much more value.. and elegance. +1 BMW |

1 - Wrong car, Dude! The BMW M6's counterpart is the Mercedes CL 63 AMG, with 2,135 tons. That should set the difference right...
2 - You "obviously" do not pull back the roof, so you can get better aerodynamics. 3 - This guy has no idea how to drive quickly around a closed track, obviously. 4 - And you don't smoke the tires in the first few laps like a braindead. 5 - Oh, and last time I looked, you can get ceramic brakes on your M6 too. Epic Fail. |

Terrible comparo lol...all the facts were off and they are clearly not comparable cars. And to only win by 1s that's pathetic if you ask me. They took the Merc in with the ppk lmao... Now that's retarded.
Maybe Merc paid him lmao... |

Regardless of the track results, that M6 is GORGEOUS! I'd rather look at that in my garage over the Merc, for many years!!!

Yes, I'm sure he meant 4.3 seconds. I'm reasonably sure my E39 M5 and Z4 M coupe (love them though I do) are not faster than the F12 M6 cab!
Criticisms about the review are acknowledged and many accepted, but I hope BMW is listening in regards to the weight and size of their performance models.

If I didn't need 4-ish seats or a fairly big trunk I'd be heavily swayed toward the SL too. But I think having both puts the M6 in a slightly different category. Not to mention all the technology I love in the car, which I think bests anything MB has.
Still enjoyed watching the comparo however. I am just doubling the SL time, since carrying more than 2 people would require two trips!

The SL weighs 210kg less and has 120 NM more torque and still only beat the M6 by 1 second...I think that says tons about how capable the M6 cab is.

and as for the weight i think bmw is free to setup it the way they want as long as its not affecting the over all performance of the car and as long as its better than the previous model (performance wise). one thing i wish that BMW is listening to... we, BMW fans , want a SUPER/HYPER CAR that holds a BMW badge.

benz and audi have their supercars (r8, sls , slr) yet still have their other classes/series for everyday use ... i didn't at all mean to omit the 6 series and replace it with a super track car.

at $150K... I would never consider the SL63... That is a completely different space. Not sure what Merc is thinking really. And at $200K I won't look at that SLS... so many other fun cars own that space.

Yea, for that extra 30,000 grand, you can keep your extra second.
