Just noticed the fuel gauge is stick at full even though I’ve got about 3 quarters tank left on the other indicators

Any idea how to correct this?

Which instrument cluster do you have...there's 3 types?
  1. Basic
  2. 6WA
  3. 6WB

Is there any other data you can share that would "paint" the picture for those of us that can't see what you're seeing? Did you just do a long journey where you increased your average MPG/MPH (or km/h)? This will cause the fuel gauge needle not to move as much if you usually get lower MPG/MPH.

How is it you conclude front that picture that you have 3/4 tank left? From the 388 miles being at about the 3/4 range? That doesn't mean anything regarding how full your tank is. That is just a calculation based on how you have driven recently as to how many miles you have until empty. If you drive like a crazy person then fill up, It might say 250 instead of 388 even though your tank is full.

Could be mechanical (float or sensor in tank not moving with actual fuel level), or electrical (sensors corroded, shorted, not grounded). Happened once on my 300ZX, the float arm just wasn’t moving.

Do you have Bimmerlink or similar to read your OBD2 codes?

Lol quick check for our cars brought up old posts to another forum by our very own QSilver7… not the same vehicle, but possibly same issue.

-Google used wisely is your friend -

In the meantime, you might try dropping a bottle of Chevron Techron or appropriate LiquiMoly fuel system cleaner into your tank and go out for a spirited twisty drive. That would he fun anyway.

Heading out to change some fluids….
