Hi All, new member

Hi All,

Being an owner of several high powered (750hp) Single turbo Supra's in the past and a Mercedes Sl600 TT currently , I finally took the leap and bought an M6 coupe.

I dropped the Merc of for a service at a specialist and decided to take a walk down to the Merc dealership for a look around. To my surprise I didn't get one sales person come and talk to me regarding the C63 I was looking at .

30 min later and still no one, so I guess it could have been my haircut or aftershave. Well dealing with rejection I decided to walk over to the BMW dealership and have a look around .

My initial thoughts were to buy a new X3 for the wife as her X5 seems to drink the juice for everyday use. When entered the garage , I was approached by a charming receptionist (legs and bum !!)and guided to a sales person, who was short and fat !!, he seemed a little cautious at first for I could not take my eyes of the receptionist . At this point I was in heaven !! not with the bloke !!. After coming back down to earth, we talked about cars.

The X3 that I was looking at suited the requirements perfectly, so I decided to call the wife and have her come down for a look. Well, the sales man was very accommodating and we signed off a new X3 . Then after asking what my hobbies where and going through the various cars that I have and had , he decided to show me a pic of a M6 he had in stock.

I have never thought about an M6 as I was a Merc man myself and the Sl600 was more then adequate for my needs. Well after closer examination at a 640d M sport in the show room, the refinements were , just beautiful compared to my Merc and that had an interior to die for.

I think the main deal closer was the 4 years free servicing as it was an ex demo model, 1 year old with a lot of options. So after 3 hours, I ended up with a new X3 and ex demo M6, it was the most expensive stroll I have ever had. !!

During My ownership of the car 1 month now, it is so smooth and refined. The speed just catches up so quick !!. the options to have crazy mode and comfort mode is a god send, the noise is not as wonderful as the V12 with muffler delete, but I am going to soon sort this out with a new system.

I am very pleased with it, but its black !!!...how hard is this colour to keep clean in a place that rains 80% of the year!!! The Sl600 is modified with speedrive ECU and new IC pumps and performance rads. Its last dyno was 600hp and 700lbs, but the gear change is so slow compared to the M6 !!.

In stock form , the M6 pulls 2 car length on the Merc @ 30 mph and its modified !! just image if it had one of those piggybacks on it .

Well that's just a small introduction to me , and I hope other members in the UK would introduce themselves

Just reduced the pic size and here are some more on a sunday drive out with the lads. As i said this before , this car is extremely fast in the right hands . The lambo and poker are stock , the 996 is modded 520, I pulled away at 100 liptons ,but they had me from 0-100 by about 1 car length , wonderful day out.

Congrats on the new car.

I know what you mean about black, my E39 M5 is Carbon Black and it loos dirty 5 minutes after cleaning it! I guess Sapphire Black will be quite similar though I've not seen the two colours side by side.

The full leather option really completes the interior. Silverstone will take some work to keep clean too!!

Yes , I carry a bottle of leather balm care micro cloth with me , blue jeans just rub off on the leather !! Maybe I am being a little to anal ! My brother has a blue M5 v10 with black interior , looks great after 5 years . I wish I went with blue and black interior or even red ! But beggars can't be choosers !..lol.

I see you are from Yorkshire , I am popping down to RS tuning in Leeds to put the M6 on the dyno ,to see what she puts down.

Welcome Michel! I too came from a Merc, and don't miss her at all.

Richard, regarding Sapphire Black Metallic vs. Black. My wife's Sapphire Black BMW doesn't show the dirt nearly as bad as a Black non-metallic paint. Side by side with my former Black E550, made me a believer. My Alpine White M6GC needs washed about as often as her car.

Carbon Black is a metalic black with a hint of blue, a description that could be used for Sphire Black too. I just don;t know how close they are having never seen them side by side.
