creaking from steering column

Still in my break in period but have noticed an annoying creaking coming from the steering wheel area.
Tried to replicate it by pushing and pulling the steering wheel in all directions but not luck.

Anyone had similar? I'm hesitant to give it to a service center and have them pull that whole area apart blind...

Oh yea. It's driving me crazy. Add me to the list. I cannot identify where it's coming from...

This has been my one frustration in anotherwise awesome car.At first I thought it was the steering wheel. I can't say for sure, but I now tend to think the squeak is actually coming from the seat and not the steering wheel. I can recreate the squeak my moving in the seat without touching the steering wheel, but can't if I lift my butt off the seat and turn the wheel.

Does it make noise when turning in all directions or just a particular one? Does it vary with speed?

Same here! Seems to be the seat, though (at least in my case). It's especially bad when accelerating (a lot), braking (a lot) or sharply taking a corner.

When I first took delivery I had a crazy squeak / creaking from the passenger seat. Drove me nuts.
I fixed it by moving the seat forward slightly. When I next go in for a service I'm going to ask the tech to grease up the runners a little. See if that helps.

Steering wheel squeak is a mystery, can't figure it out...

So happy to hear that I am not the only one with this problem. There is a loud squeeking noise coming from under my drivers seat. It occurs when going over bumps and even just during normal driving. It is very loud and very annoying. It happened for the first couple of weeks, then I guess I moved the seat around a little and then it went away. It happens intermitently now. I spoke to my SA about it a couple of weeks ago, and he could not replicate the sound and neither could I at that time. Then last week it started again and I was close to the dealership, so I took it by. He said that he had someone else in an M6 in for the same problem at that time. He told me he would call me once he had the problem figured out and then have me bring mine in.
I will update when I know more.

Please do. It's driving me insane (and it's getting worse). Such a flaw is a real shame for such an otherwise awesome car.

Exclamation Squeakers Creekers, where did you get those eyes...

I'm hoping that either the dealer or someone here finds a fix. Those rattles are soo annoying. I would have my girlfriend put her head between my legs while driving and try to find it, but the truckers always start honking their horns and giving me Thumbs-up...

Seat creaking fixed on driver's side was the seat bracket (scissor bracket) hope that helps. Seems the passenger side is also doing it but much less.

Great to know and thank you for the update Noushy. I did not reply as I said I would above because it mine stopped making noise and I did not want them messing around with it because maybe it stopped for good......I do not really know why it would stop for good on its own, but will just leave it until I hear otherwise. Thanks again.
