F06 Night Vision Camera Retrofit

Hi

I would like to explore retrofitting if possible my 2015 640ix GC. So currently have the Driver assistant (lane, frontal collision and pedestrian warning) and Surround view options.

So thoughts on this retrofit anyone attempted to do it and have DIY. Are there are documents out there

I am trying to find what are all the parts needed, ofcourse the night vision camera, the grill, some sort of wiring harness

Thank you

Ramez

I have a simple solution though it will only satisfy your ego, those blanking plates where the buttons should be piss me off too, just buy the switch with all the buttons it plugs in and lights up, you won't have night vision, but atleast you won't see that terrible plastic cap. As mentioned its one for the ego.

Id say retrofit is prohibitive.

Is your car an msport?
If so active cruise isn't compatible with msport bumper.
If you have non-msport it should be fairly straight forward as long as you have the parts. Just retrofit and code.

I have a non-m sport w/ night vision and active cruise. Surely we could make a custom bracket to hold both sensors some where on/in the bumper. I was looking at doing a M6 retrofit front bumper.
*Sigh* first world problems.

Yes you could go this route.
Make sure you don't get an m sport steering wheel as I don't believe they have a spot for the active cruise control.

For what it's worth - I've got active cruise control and msport with msport steering wheel. All works perfectly well. For the record mines a 640D GC MY2013. For what difference it makes it's right hand drive European spec.

Just out of interest, the nightvision option - this only works in the centre information screen doesn't it? I don't see this as a worthwhile option, it needs to be in the HUD for it to actively be a safety feature. Otherwise I'm not looking at the road?

Correct, however, it will beep very loudly if it spots a deer or a human on the side or in the road. And it will also prime the brakes. I only turn it on when I'm outside the city.

The night vision camera is on my default at night - you don't need to press the button to bring it up on the navigation screen for it to be active. If it spots an animal or human on the side of the road, a warning will come up in the HUD along with a beeping noise. The button only toggles on/off the navigation screen... which is honestly pointless, since I don't imagine many people will be watching a center display while driving.

The MSport wheel does have a spot for the active cruise, as well, on the left side of the wheel.

Both options are very much worth having. The night vision camera has saved my butt at least once with a deer.
