2015 vs 2016

So I'm already seeing a "configurable" 2015 on the site (Canadian) and a 2016 which is "coming soon"...
So how are 2015 and 2016 different?
It was my understanding that 6 was just renewed (well LCI is not renew to me anyways...). So what's up with another change in 2016?
Looks like they are really desperate to get rid of the old generation and open up room for the G line...

No, the 2016 is the LCI. It goes into production next month.

Edit: I have no clue why the press release references it as a 2015

C'mon guys...help me out...what is really different? Seriously?
I think this is the time when they admit "yep, this model is done...let's just clear out the inventory...by a facelift! "
The logical marketing and business science says: "knowing that this model will only be out there for another 2 years max, my marketshare will heavily drop, as people will wait for the new Gen to come out,"...in the meantime what typically happens is losing marketshare specially to rivals...isn't that the case?
So is there anyone out there who would consider buying this $120k LCI model with the presumption that the total model will be outdated in a year or so? If so, I would like to hear their thoughts and reasoning of why they would do so.
I'm already predicting that the answer from those who "lease" the product might be different than the ones "financing"?

Hmmm, I'm not following. From the GC standpoint, the car has been out a total of 3 years here in the states. They are doing a slight refresh like they always do at this point and then a new one will come out in another 3 years. That's normal for BMW. The 5-series got its LCI in 2014 (August 2013) and I don't think anyone buying one of those thought "my 5-series will be outdated in a year or two" as you won't see a new one here for another year or two (August 2016 or so?).

So in short, BMWs tend to run a 6 year lifecycle with a refresh at the 3 year mark. If you like the 6-series, get one now or wait another two years? Doesn't seem like settling to me (Plus sometimes the new car is worse than the old one to some people - give me a 2010 550 over a 2011 550 any day )

The key differences are the front lights - change to shape and LED's as standard with no xenons.

There will also be new interior options (seats), new wheel options and new colours.

That's about it really. No engine changes at this stage, but I imagine the new 40i engine will make an appearance within the next 8-12 months.

Visually it's pretty hard unless you're an owner to see the difference thankfully.

Minimal changes in this facelift which is great for current owners.
