f06/f12 coding

Is anyone here experimenting with some coding on the 6 series?

So far I have coded

Entertainment list on HUD
Phone list on HUD
Lane assistance on HUD
Turn signals on HUD
auto start/stop to last setting
dvd in motion
remove all legal disclaimers
close mirrors windows and roof through fob and comfort access
transfer telephone ringtone through car speakers
tire pressure and temperature
Opening doors doesn't stop window roll up

Anyone found other features that could be fun to have?

Have you tried any of these on the M series?

Thanks Andreo! I forgot about that. I am going to try to code BMW Live today, and will do the sport display at the same time.

I enabled a lot of mdrive settings and they show up on the Idrive system but I am not able to select them. I am guessing the software knows by the VIN that it isn't an M car.

There shouldn't be any reason that it wouldn't work on an M car. Actually most of these have been tested on an M5 and it worked fine.

Interesting, particularly the additional info you've managed to add to the HUD. Did you have any issues doing this or was it a straight forward process? Strange that the code is there to do this, but not implemented. I wonder if its due to regional legislation/homologation issues. Is there anywhere in the world where these features are enabled by default?

For example:

"close mirrors windows and roof through fob and comfort access"

this feature appears to enabled on my UK 640D GC (its M-sport if that matters). I simply hold down the lock button to initiate it.

Garage List
Folding the mirrors using the key fob is even mentioned in one of the quickie guides that came with my (U.S. spec) car. I've tried everything, and it doesn't work. I struggle to find a reason why they'd disable this. I know it isn't a legal thing since just about every MB and Lexus SUV and high-end sedan have this enabled. And you can do it by pushing the button on the door, so I'm lost for a reason other than BMW sustaining severe brain damage...

It can only be enabled via coding, atleast here in the US.

Hi objectdyed,

What code did you use to turn on fog lights when open car? We're you also able to keep the fog lights on when you start the engine?

No they wouldn't. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, there are companies like BimmerTech that can get it done for you. I had a couple of items done by them including 6NR, 6WB and a bunch of other codes, including the ones mentioned here. Ask for Patryk.

If anyone in London wants coding done for free I am here for a week and brought my cable just in case

But you have to come to me in Earls Court because my car is thousands of miles from here.

Are there any warranty issues in doing this? How much should a bimmertech location charge for doing a couple of these?

Besides the products they offer at their website, there does not appear to be a fixed rate for adhoc coding work that they do. It's been hit and miss for me. Write to Patryk at info@bimmer-tech.net and he will give you a quote.

Not sure about how strictly they adhere to the warranty conditions where you are. For me, I had my BMW dealer workshop install the cabling work that came with the 6NR kit from BimmerTech without any issues. I swapped the 6WB cluster on my own. Also did a bunch of coding both by BimmerTech and myself. So far no issues with the vehicle or the warranty.

One thing's for sure. You will get more out of your vehicle each time you add a coding if you are into the automation and gadgetry that adorn it.
