Try Eagle Rare, if you can get it. Same price point, and 10x the bourbon. Maker's used to be my go-to for Manhattans and sipping, but Eagle Rare replaced it.

I'm not aware of Eagle Rare making a single barrel version. If so, I would jump on it, but just go with the regular - it's excellent.

Enjoying Macallan 12 tonight. After trying it in a bar a few weeks ago and liking it, I bought a bottle this weekend. Veeeery smooth. This may become my go-to Scotch.

Cheaper (by a little) than Dalmore or Balvenie CC. I got mine at Sam's Club for $46.

Wow - the Macallan up here for the 12 is close to $100.

Price differential sucks.

Probably not worth the hassle of driving to Buffler to pick some up? How bad are the customs fees when you return?

Well, normally I'm gone for 24 hours or so when I go, so no customs on the first bottle. After that, I think its like 7%? I don't know, never paid customs before.

I'll be thinking more about doing so next time.

Yeah, by paying half the cost per bottle, the 7% is nothing. You would need to be a member of Sam's Club, though. But even in normal liquor stores I think it runs about $50.

For a sherried Scotch, Macallan 18 can't be beat.

For an everyday Scotch I love Cragganmore 12 yr.
