Does it really matter?

I recently had my car serviced and the dealer explained something to me about the type of gas I use. I use 93 octane and only fill up with Sunoco.

Does it really matter what gas station I go to? If so, what gas station would you recommend? They told me use shell, which is pretty weird because I never thought the company made a difference.

I have had issues with the CEL two of my S63 Amg's if I ran anything but shell V-power ... Some small towns don't have shell stations in the interior of BC so you get what you get for premium ... My 2007 M6 cab with the eisenmann sport and K&N cold air intake would tripped the CEL with anything but shell V-power

The shell Vpower has less Methanol, ethanol as additives or techton ... And these seem to cause issues with these high performance and high compression engines and do not burn as clean is my understanding

I may be a bit off about the details, but both BMW and Mercedes has recommended shell Vpower for my M and Amg vehicles

Perhaps M6-Coupe can fill in the details more correctly

I used to use Chevron but recently switched to Shell V-Power Nitro+...
Maybe it's just marketing trick but somehow I like it

Isn't 93 better than 91?

Stick to the motto "I'm only old when I'm dead"?
