I may look into doing a lease next time. The way I did it was I purchased my 08' M6 outright the first time back in January 2008, paid off in one lump payment. Kept that car until November 2013 when I got my new M6 by simply trading in my old one and wiring the full amount of the difference to the dealer. I figure that the amount the car depreciated over time would be more or less equal to what I would have paid in total over that time period on lease payments. How is the mileage allotment? Can one still get a reasonable monthly payment with 15,000 miles per year? I drive around 13,000 to 14,000 per year on my daily drivers.

Well, you can select the yearly mileage. usually they give you three most popular options. 10K, 12K and 15K. based on the selection, the residual value will be changed. For example if the residual value is %56 for 10K, it will change to %55 for 12k or %54 for 15k. Just for an idea your monthly payment will be increased $25 per mount for 12k or $50 for 15k. you can also select the 10K (that's what I usually select) if you want to trade in before lease end or even if you keep the car for 3 years they charge you about 16 cent per mile for over mileage.

lol just asked Audi dealership with a nice R8 v10+ to give me a trade in, let's say it's twice less of what I've spent on it

Exactly and that is why leased M4 are costing the same as a much more expensive new M5. All about the discount....10-12k on new M5 and 0-1k on new M4

When I traded my first 650 after 18 month, I was about 6K upside down, but I got 8k discount on the second one to wash out that 6k and pay drive off. after 4 months I traded in that 650 while I was 8K upside down, but I got discount (20k) on my M6.
you also can get lease return credit whenever you trade your BMW with a new one. to give you an idea, For my M6 I am paying almost the same payment I used to pay for 2013 650i M-sport while I was paying again the same payment I used to pay for 2012 650i

Crevier BMW has some deals right now with 20K discount on some 2014 model. and yes you can get these discounts easily. all you have to do to get these kind of discounts is to be patient until it's the right time
I got my car in September 2013 while it was sitting there for about 9 months next to 2014 models BTW I got the impressive MF 0.0009

Perfect timing indeed! After going through hell with my 2011 740i with all the electrical and mechanical issues, BMW finally agreed to buy it back. Thank you for the info, time to head over to Crevier!
