Yes. It's built in engine protection. Why would you want to rev the engine while it's cold anyways??

honestly i didnt mean any sass, the caps were a mistake. I appreciate all the help. In regards of a wasted thread as you say. The m6 forums are already so boring, theres on average 2 post create per week. In regards of the post i think its a valid question. ive ownws 4 bmw and the other 2 i currently own (e93, e64) both allow me to rev the engine in park

Hi buddy,
It's definitely got a limiter on it , have tried it rolling in neutral at 50 and still won't Rev over 4K.Cant find any sound info on it and thought it was on the Euro spec ones but obviously not.Its not the end of the world, am just curious why some do and don't

When engine oil is cold it maintains a limiter to protect the engine, when engine oil is fully warm and you throw it in neutral after being in Drive, it will rev all the way up.. they all act the same, no ones is different.

Cheers

On a related note: can you do a standing burn-out with a DCT M6? Stopped, in 1st, foot on the brake, foot on the gas, and get the rear end to light up? I guess I'm concerned that either the front brakes won't hold back the larger rear contact patches and the car with launch forward before the rears start to slip, AND/OR that the DCT will blow itself up if I try something this dumb...

Floor it and dab the brake with left foot, keep dabbing the brake as it try's to creep forward

While cold, yes. Give it about a minute. Place it in sport plus and N and give it a rev. Should be able to take it to redline.

I usually had to put it in Sport Plus and D then back in N and if let's me rev.
