Hi,

The tool pouch should be in the boot floor under the lift up flap?
Isn't there anything in there?

Cheers

No mate, absolutely nothing bar the alloy wheel key, air pump and tyre compound. Any idea what I should have

The main thing is the wheel key - you're missing a reversible screwdriver and a screw-in towing eye, that's all.
As you have a compressor and sealant, that would indicate that the previous owner has changed the run-flats for conventional tyres.

Yeah it has standard tyres so with the sealant and pump both being proper BMW items it looks like it's always had normal tyres from new.

Even with runflat tires it's a good idea to carry a small air compressor. You can drive on a "flat" runflat tire but it's better not to.

Yeah definately exactly as I do in my 5 series tourer, they are a great idea in theory but in practice they have quite a few pitfalls. At least you can get a normal tyre repaired!

You can also get a runflat repaired.

I've been told by a few places that they won't repair a runflat in case it blows out after a repair and I take them to court. I don't know why that only applies to a runflat obviously but they just refused to do the repair. If it was damaged by running with no pressure I would agree but they just wouldn't entertain a repair.

You should have gone to the tire manufacturer's website where they all define what is repairable and what is not. And then shown that document to the idiot you were dealing with.

Here in the U.K. Most big tyre repair places won't touch run flats as they do not know how long you have been driving about with it flat and can't see the internal damage to the side wall. This may have changed recently as I'm talking a few years ago.

Most small places will repair it though as I've had a couple repaired and I know I haven't driven it for long with no air in it.

That's why even with runflats I carry a small compressor since most tire issues are slow leaks and you don't want to drive a runflat with no pressure unless there is no alternative.

I think it's even worse now from my recent experience, and you could have a £200 tyre punctured within hours and they would refuse to repair it. It's ridiculous so makes a case for going for normal tyres, at least there's no problem repairing them.

Exactly the reason i carry a compressor and lets be honest a 50 miles range could be woefully inadequate. I carry spare wheels in my cars as well as I often travel long distances and don't want to be stranded.
