e64 conv - idrive not working

Hi guys,

i have searched the forums but can not get any results so thought id ask here.

I have a bmw 630ci 2006 convertible. I have a sat nav, idrive with seperate cd player and dvd players (ccc i think).

Issues
Now ... this week it has stopped working
- no sound at all - stereo and warning sounds eg pdc, seat belt, door open.
- the screen comes on and randomly switches off,
- the radio picks up stations,
- the cd player loads cds BUT i can not see the time of the song elapsing,
- the maps sat nav works,
- bluetooth work (but no sound obviously),

What have I do so far?
- Performed a reset - pressed the volume nob, eject on the cd and eject on the dvd,
- disconnected the battery for half hour
- removed the carpet in the boot to see if there is any water leaks - nothing at all

What is my next step?
- does any one know ...
- how easy is it for me to obtain the ccc update software?

Take it in to a service outlet obviously. Looks like the head unit CCC will need replacing. It's a £1500 job.
