650i w/meisterschaft vs 550i dinan 2

Hey everyone i have a 2012 650i imola red w/ miesterschaft gts exhaust. my friends have a 550i m sport manual with dinan stage 2, 550i nonmsport automatic dinan stage 2, and a 750i xdrive dinan stage 2.

WE RACED YESTERDAY FROM 50-ON THEN 70- ON

EVERY TIME I WON. MY CAR IS STOCK OTHER THEN EXHAUST.

HOW CAN THIS BE POSSIBLE??? PLEASE IF ANYONE ELSE KNOWS ANYTHING PLEASE LET ME KNOW?

ARE THE 650'S TUNED DIFFERENTLY THEN THE 5'S AND 7'S??

THE 550I ON MANUAL TRANSMISSION COULD NOT WIN AT ALL. EVERY TIME WE RAN I WALKED AWAY FROM HIM . EVEN AFTER 100 I WAS GAINING ON HIM.

THE AUTOMATIC WE DIDNT REALLY RACE BUT CAN TEH AUTOMATIC REALLY HAVE SUCH A DIFFERENCE?

THE 750XI I ALSO WALKED AWAY FROM.

(I WAS ALREADY THINKING SOMEONE IN GERMANY SNUCK IN A DINAN STAGE 2 IN MY CAR LOL)

-550i is much heavier, I think easy over 100kgs
-Manual shifting is definitely much slower than e-gear which does add up during shifts
Seriously doubt exhaust makes much difference.

Ye it is 370 pounds heavier . And as far as manual trans I left him right away it wasn't in between shifting gears . It's weird makes me wonder if the Dinan tech does anything at all.

Any how scheduled dyno app for Tuesday . Will see what I'm putting out to the wheels .

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I think the weight difference probably makes the biggest difference, but I'd imagine that Dinan would compensate for that. The 6er isn't exactly small, but I think it also has the upper hand in terms of aerodynamics.

Ye it's hard to believe like if I was told stock 6er took Dinan 2 I wouldn't believe it . They are putting out 100+ more horse and 120+torque . I will see on Tuesday what my car is getting to wheels . . And after I will Dinan 2 it and dyno again to see actual hp gain

keep us updated on the dyno. Also, Dinan "claims" 100HP but is actually nonsense. You might get 50WHP w Stage 2 if your lucky. Waste of money if you ask me.

And don't be surprised if you get 5-10% less power than what's stated in specs. BMW usually overrates that much. the Italian makes overrates much more.

Thank you for giving me something to look foward to in this otherwise boring week

I'm sure lots of people around here will be interested in seeing the before/after numbers when you do Dinan. I'm not planning on doing it to mine, but I am interested in seeing roughly what the car gets from the factory...

Hey guys.. I am new to this site. I had an 09 750 I just traded for a 2012 650 white vert. I had the Dinan Stg 2 installed... and it is well worth it. The difference is night and day. I took delivery before the tune and dropped it off last Weds for the tune/tint... so I felt the before and after... it is super fast. Still getting the feel for shifting properly vs driving in auto mode. But anyone wondering the car is a beast!!!! To make the sale my dealer Momentum gave me approx 15% off the tune. Earned my business. The 0-80 is just so quick… also from 60-100 the pull is insane.

These "claims" of feel really dont mean a whole lot without dyno numbers. Dinan is notorious for claiming false numbers. Im happy to hear that you are happy, but we really need before and after dyno numbers. I am thinking of doing stage 2 as well, but will def get the car on a dyno before.

My post was not to convince people of buying Dinan products. I thought on this forum people share their experiences. I was sharing mine because prior to buying my 6 series i searched the web, youtube, etc to look for videos or people who had a great experience.. i found zero so i just went with it...I keep my cars less then 12 to 13 months so this cost was a thrill for me.. and yes it feels faster. I can careless what a dyno number says. I am not driving a high powered Supra, or GTR making over 1000hp like it matters or going to the Texas mile. Its a simple daily driving 650i... even with the Stg 2, I wont be winning races against heavily modded cars. The Stg 2 adds the extra kick I wanted.. it satisfies me. So if people want to read something good like I did prior to my install they are welcome to message me.

I am not a rookie, and this is not my first fast car. My choices were going to either be the CLS63, which I would of purchased the Renntech Tune, or the 650i with Dinan. Bmw offered more for my trade.. so I chose the 650i. The car has kick.. but I DID expect much more from the tune. I was expecting it to be blazing fast. Maybe I am just spoiled and have driven very high powered cars which is the feel I was hoping for. I doubt the car will keep up with modded cars in the high end 100+ (997 Turbo, Z06, GTR).. but again its 0-80, and slamming on the gas does give it kick. My 750i was very slow, which is why I wanted something faster with extra power, and Dinan delivered for me. If anyone can recommend a dyno place in Houston I don’t mind checking out the numbers.

Mind you the car is turbo.. And I am in Houston, and currently the temp is 100 degrees during the day, everyday.. All of you who live in cooler climates will probably feel more boost. I can’t wait until Fall and cool morning starts.

With your Dinan tune, you will give the 997TT a tough time. Enjoy it in good health.
