Hit and Run

Got hit at a red light, car behind me was going at least 40mph. I got out of the vehicle spoke to the girl went back to my car to grab my phone to take pics and when I came back she was gone. Trying to work with the police to find her I didn't even get the plates

Go back to the location where it occurred and look around to spot eventual cameras (private or city owned).

A jackass this AM almost hit me because he was speeding and not paying attention (picking up stuff from his passenger foot well). Got out and confronted him at a red light. He denied it until I told him I have front/ back dash cams in my car and have him on video...

Hope you find her, if not your insurance will take care of it.... Sorry it happened.

Thanks guys, just glad I was okay. I have to cover the deductible and my insurance company will cover the rest. However they aren't paying for the 3D design spoiler

Can't you incorporate it into the fix somehow? How's the exhaust?

I was thinking about that as well. I have the same 3D Design diffuser and have wondered if it would be covered by my insurance company if something were to happen.

I don't understand why it wouldn't be covered... It's clearly on the car, the car you insured with them.

I haven't had a claim in years, but I guess they list modifications as exclusions now?

Sorry about this. I would say that I would be asking and looking for any neighboring camera as well.

I think you can add coverage for modifications , but it will cost extra. My insurance covered my CF splitters after someone hit me , but i think they only did that because its a OEM part.

I think you are correct. I believe the exclusion is for non-OEM parts. With OEM parts, even when installed after the purchase of the vehicle, can be argued to have been there from the moment it left the factory.

I guess they learned their lessons on the aftermarket car audio hits they took. Still, this is securely fastened and a "part" of the car.

Doesn't seem right.... hope you catch the crook that hit you.

I'm with state farm and they told me to save my receipts and they should cover it at least up to 10k but you can tell them you have 40k in mods and they will adjust your coverage to cover them oem or not. Just keep all your receipts.

unless you have coverage for aftermarket parts they normally aren't covered, stereo that is part of the car (mounted) has limited coverage these days due to popularity and actually they will add for window tint if you have a smashed window, so insurance isn't that bad.
Here is the thing. They WONT cover your diffuser, but that means they wont buy it or pay for it, but they have to buy and paint a new OEM M6 diffuser, which is also alot of money. You simply take the diffuser money and replace with the aftermarket one. they will do this no problem

This is actually a good point. Your body shop of choice would be paid for parts, paint, and labor of the OEM diffuser by your insurance. You could just tell them not to order the parts and buy the diffuser yourself. Dropship it to the shop and have them install it. They should then have no problem with returning the leftover money they got from your insurance for your OEM diffuser, paint, and other related costs to you.
