White with Sakhir will look amazing John.

I do love my San Marino blue - one of the nicest colours I've had and it's unique to the M6 (unless someone spec's it as an Individual paint on another model). I wouldn't go for a white interior again though - if I had my time again, I'm confident that I'd go superman-spec with San Marino paint and Sakhir leather!

I'd have gone for white on our imminent M3 (only 5 weeks now!) but, as it's replacing my missus's white M135i, I fancied a change and went for a rather brave combo of Sakhir paint and Silverstone leather.

I have since found a very effective protector which stops dye transfer - Dr Leather Protector. It's expensive at 40 for a small bottle, but is the only product I've found that actually works and is necessary on light leathers. Probably less important on black, but it guess it'd still make it easier to keep clean and delay the inset of shine.
I'm afraid I've copied you with the SMB + Opal Palmball and will be protecting the leather from day one. I've gone for the Leather Master products (brought some back from the US a few weeks back) as they are highly recommended by some of the guys in the M5 forum. So we'll have to compare notes in a couple of months as I wear blue jeans every day!

To the OP- go for the full Merino if you can, transforms the interior of the car and makes it feel like the £70k+ you end up paying for it...

We'll be a very exclusive pair then

You, like me, must be slightly crazy choosing white! Even with protection, I recommend a wipe down every week. Let me know how you get on.

My Silverstone leather is as good as the day the car arrived, never touched it.
I don't were jeans though.

Jeans are almost the sole killer of light leathers - as long as you wear clean clothes, if you don't wear jeans then you'll likely never have issues.

Anyway John, I assume you drive in your birthday suit then

Na not at all, wife would never wear it.
I like light colour interiors , up until this new Sakhir leather order.
Never had a problem with Silverstone/beige in 4 cars (sick of them now).
Prohaps my M-Funtion seats hold me tighter than yours

That'll be the M Multi Function seats that have the same base as the standard seats then (in the M6 - M5 seats are to ally different)

(It's my base that has a combination of wear and irreversible jeans dye that BMW have agreed to replace)

Lol....just winding you up

Although seriously, your Multi Function backrest will definitely grab you tighter as the standard seats don't have the usual inflating side bolsters - heck, even our M135i has these so not sure why they don't provide them as standard on M5/6 seats. Fortunately, I do find the peasant-spec M6 seats really comfortable, which is more luck than anything because when I had an M5 with standard seats for a day, I found them very uncomfortable.

My multifunction seat has been making a creaking noise coming from inside the adjustable backrest. It takes brining the adjustable backrest all the way out and then back to my preferred position just to get some peace and quiet for a few miles. I'm not sure if this is common but if it is it may be reason enough to stay away from these seats. I'm having the dealer check it out as soon as I get back to Miami from this Memorial Day weekend.

It is NOT common at all, I had them in the last 3 new M cars, never had this at all. I think they are great.

Not got a problem with Space Grey apart from "it's common to all".

Seat creaking is a common problem in the F12/13/06 M6 when it is coming from under the seats. There is a bulletin going around the dealer network highlighting defective seat pans. However, my creaking noise seems to be stemming from inside the adjustable backrest, right behind my left shoulder, not under the seat. I have to have someone take a look at it, it's very frustrating. I did have multifunction seats in my E63 M6 and had no noise issues except from rubbing noises from the seats side bolsters rubbing against the center console. The seats in the E6x M6 were not nearly as adjustable as the ones in the F1x/F06 M6 though. I think the new seat's level of adjustability is overkill, although I do wish there was a little more side support.
