Black Six with black grills?

Hi all I'm still considering getting black grills for my 640d but my car is Ruby black and will putting black grills be too much?
What's your thoughts?

Some guys will pop up and say it looks great. Others will say it makes the grill just kina melt into the bumper and be featureless. BMW does make a grill that's black with just the lip where it meets the hood in chrome. I think if you do all black or just the lip it will look much better.

My car is carbon black. When I fitted the all black grill it looked a bit lost, so I bought some stick on 3.5mm chrome strips to accent the vertical fins. Much better I think

Be prepared to struggle a bit to unclip the original grills. Access is difficult and you will graze your knuckles. The new ones just push in

I like the idea of the vertical chrome strips or leaving as is - all black too much imho

I'm carbon black and put all black ones on this week

It's miles better looking

I'll post a picture once I figure out how

Ps - you can get them cheaper than that on eBay, mine were 59.99 and when my dealership fitted them they said they were better quality than the bmw performance ones.

I think it's a bit of a marmite subject. I'll see what they look like when I buy some and resell if it doesn't suit :-)

This is the right look on a black body

Added a photo above of normal gloss black grilles ( not m ones )

Went thru 3 sets before getting those, first two sets were not gloss black and didn't look right, also the first set didn't fit perfectly so they are hit and miss off eBay

The matte finish ones looked crap IMO

I also tried the bmw performance ones and didn't really like them, I preferred all black

It's all individual taste tho

On another note do any of you guys get the headlight mist after pressure washing their cars, dealer said they would replace them if I want but it's pretty normal ??

I agree gloss looks better. I bought mine on eBay from Germany about 18 months ago. They were matt but using a little T-cut, I polished them back to gloss. It did not take long and that was while they were already fitted to the car. The pics I used above were taken while before I polished them

I've recently purchased some twin slat type in a gloss black to go on mine. Lucky I found a seller who have the ones without the plastic area where the M badge goes on the M6.

Will post pics once I get them fitted.

I would of said yes but just looked and you are in the Us and I'm in the Uk so i doubt it would be cost effective with the postage etc.
Thanks anyway.
