Said no one, ever
The test is done every year with what cars are new 12 months prior to the test.

It is not a comparo test. It is a drivers car test, the winner can be in any price bracket. Price has no bearing on the outcome.

There was a E63 wagaon in the test. It actually got 7th.

What do People expect ?

We are talking about a 1,9t luxury GT car, with loads of torque and almost 600hp !

I took my M6 to the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the toughest Place on earth for a Car and the performance was incredible!

No need to complain about anything

Yes, how can a car that looks so fast and capable on the 'Ring be so criticized elsewhere. Obviously Randy Probst isn't a fan of big BMWs.

So that settles the GT-R vs M6 question. GT-R is faster by a sexing to the 1/4 mile

There is truth to that, think Pobst has only praised the M3 from anything I've seen (and somewhat begrudgingly). On the M6, Jason Plato (also race driver, 5th Gear) openly loved it and said he didn't really understand the criticisms.

C&D actually also noticed worse stopping distances vs the M5 even tho the M6GC has carbon ceramic brakes, but they think there may be a glazing effect

It has been said about the aventador's cc brakes also

IMHO the driver had trouble handling the power. In the video, he repeatedly complained that the M6 had oversteer out of the turns, that's due to acceleration. Curious if tire, tire pressure, or driver change would make a difference. That's not a complaint I've heard often.

exactly...

like i said, this car feels like if it had too much power. Coming out of sharp turns it helps to have one gear higher.

Drove one of these - and man it feels a lot more nimble than it looks. And in 2014 you can get some recaros. I really NEVER ever thought I'd be x-shopping any BMW w/ a 'maro.
That Zl1 is like a $55,000 car but keeps up with $100,000 cars!!! Never knew American muscle would catch up like the Shelby gt500 with 660hp and 200lbs lighter than the ZL1 it's just insane.

+1 and grossly overrated by its fanboys.

This type of review is what created the cult following for the M3.

Maybe BMW needs a corporate kick in the nuts. I get the 650i, that's a cool GT car. Wtf is the new M6 I don't know.

I hope the new M3/M4 is truly a great car but M6 has set the bar pretty low.

not really m-divisions fault... but rather the bmw higher corp. The m-division did complain about this exact platform stating that the cars the bmw forces them to turn into m cars were too heavy and so the division requested to branch out and make their own m-cars, similar to the srt, but bmw rejected it.

wow really embarrassing BMW, really embarrassing... you can say that its a touring car, not a sports and whatnot but bottom line: it is an ///m car.

is it beautiful? yes, it would've been in the top 3 we were ranking looks.

is it far and away better than its predecessor? yes, obviously, in every way.

but it should be a drivers car because that's what BMW ///m stands for.

The M6 gets up and go when I want it to, it is comfortable, has all the luxury I need and its a pleasure to drive on long trips. The M6 is a GT. If MT is testing these 12 vehicles as "Driver's Cars" why just do track testing. I took my car on the Nurburgring once and that was enough for me. My personal belief is that these cars should have been tested on real life situations. I love my M6 as a "Driver's Car" and have absolutely no regrets.
Agreed! 100%. Plus it's the best looking BMW on the road.

This must be one of the most stupid car shows as I don't understand the point of comparing cars from different categories, built with different purposes and having huge price differences
For sure M6 is a track capable car as M Power Fan awesome demonstrated , I can't see a CL 63 AMG or Bentley Continental GT doing better (these are its real rivals)!
But comparing it with cars like 911, R8, SLS and other full plastic american "muscle" cars it's a big nonsense

The point of the review is to compare drivers cars and to show that a car doesn't have to cost $100k to be a good driving car.

It's about the driving experience.

Funny, in the old days ///M cars had that nailed. As you can see now others have benchmarked them and exceeded them for less $$$ and its still a good driving car.

I don't wanna own an American car either but clearly they are doing something right and owning one is a good thing.

BMW better listen up cause America is the biggest car market next to China and they have plenty to gain listening or else they will have plenty to lose.

You can have a good driving experience in a GT car, going fast on the motorway, or you can have a good driving experience on the track in a real sport car which I'm sure can't offer the best comfort as a DD.
Let's not mix the things so much.
On the other hand the price range should be limited somehow.
Can you go in the holiday with a Porsche GT3 or with a Panamera? With a SLS Black or with an E/ S/ CL AMG?

Americans are coming a long way and id never thought is say that. My ATS premium with MRC corners more aggressively then my modified 335 did. And I'm not bashing any other cars, I loved and in many ways miss my 335. Just using it as a reference point.

People can subjectively say all they want (ugh..these M3 guys who jump in here and trash the M5 like they are BMW marketing experts somehow) but this gentleman's day at the track sure says something for understanding your car. Clearly driving several different cars after one another and having less than ample seat time prior to these "tests" has significant effect on the performance gained from the cars and skews opinion in the end. I can just watch this video for days on end. What a driver! This CERTAINLY shows the M6 in stock form doing MUCH more than I will ever need it to. In the real world, I raced that #1 car, the C4S from several highway rolls yesterday and he quickly appeared in my rear view (all the while me whistling along to my favorite songs on my sweet B&O system and comfy seats WITH MY TOP DOWN-lol!)

Yesterday it certainly felt like the M6 cab was the "driver's car" on a gorgeous sunny day in good old Georgia.

And to top it off-3 separate cars pulled up alongside me at different times to tell me how gorgeous the car was and one cheering me on to beat the Porsche. I nodded and proceeded to oblige.
