Hey, my dealer just received my 2018 M6.... no gloss black 433 rims! they look exactly the same as privious years so we can put that myth to rest!

Also I think gloss black kidney might be more appropriate for the M
I concur on your thoughts regarding the black

Welp, after much deliberation I went ahead and put black kidneys on. Also did a gloss black M6 badge on the truck, and had some left over flat black 3m wrap that I put on the chrome door handle trim and amber reflectors.

It's my first time with 3m wrap, so I think it turned out ok.

Glossy black kidney grills look great though chrome also fits very nicely on a black or dark color car in my opinion. I do not mind the chrome ones I have factory fitted on my tansanite blue. Yet when they will be worn and/or scratched I might go for the black ones too.

when i bought mine, it had the chrome kidney grilles, and i self-installed the black ones.

it looks way better, and more aggressive.

how easy is it to remove the chrome strip on the door handle and do you need 3m double tape to reinstall?

I actually just wrapped over the handle and cut the chrome piece out. From everything I've read you can't remove the chrome strip without breaking it.

Don't get me wrong it is far from perfect. You can still see a little chrome peeking through on certain edges. I need to touch it up.

I'm resurrecting this old thread because it's time to change my kidney grills to black.

I have black wheels from factory and on San Marino blue I think it will look better. So, what are the options? I could buy OEM or replica grills or paint existing chrome effect. I have black vertical strips so painting would not be too difficult with a spay if I mask off the strips. I'm slightly concerned though the paint might peel off the chrome effect surface over time.

Your opinions on the best route will be most welcome. Thanks guys.

Nice. I'd certainly consider cf but I've only seen them on ebay from China so would be concerned about quality/fit. I could get the outer chrome wrapped I suppose.

Im dying to do my front grille in black, but I have nightvision. I haven't seen many around an if I do, they are stupid expensive. Such a dumb option that I NEVER use.

Well i certainly agree about night vision. We could start a thread of "pointless options" and put it at the top of the list. I also have it on one car and have never used it either.

I agree too that OEM are ridiculously expensive and will probably end up buying replica grills. In your case I guess having the chrome surround painted is the best option.

Do you like the blacked out look on black car? The chrome contrast looks good on a black IMO, as your headlight housing and wheels are shiny
I like the black kidneys on any M6 but to each his own. I just bought this 2016 vert a month ago. Taking her in this week to add some more black. I'll post some pics after.
