Can't find Michelin Pilot SuperSports

Looking for a few (two) sets of tires for my sled, apparently the 265/35/20 is elusive, with no ETA for Michelin to even start production. I emailed them earlier, here is the response. I'm looking all over and nobody seems to have em available, I may have to go another brand unless I opt for the 255/35/20 in front. Just a tad narrower and sidewall is a bit shorter. Idk.

Thoughts?

We apologize but the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in size 265/35zr20 are, as you said, on national backorder and not available for retailers to order. Michelin is very sorry for this.

I also checked with one of our online dealers, Tire Rack, and they do not have any available as well, and just waiting on us.

Just to let you know that we have no production date for this tire currently, and the BEST case scenario would be availability of this tire within the next 7-8 weeks. We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing Michelin
.

I called Discount about my front 19" and they did not have any. I too am looking for MPSS, and so far my independent tire installer has not found any. I spoke to Michelin, who were useless, and than contacted BMWNA, who suggested I contact my local dealer. My local dealer said they could get some from BMW, who may have bought up the inventory from Michelin. However, I find that obnoxious (and logged a complaint with BMWNA), and since I have tread left on my tires, I am hoping my independent tire installer will eventually find me a pair of front tires.

this is nonsense. what will happen if one of my front tires need to be replaced through the BMW wheel and tire protection? are these not part of the backorder?

ebay appears to have plenty. Most appear to be used - but better than nothing!

Then they have to replace at least 2 of them (the same axle) with Pzero
But I'm sure dealers have those tires in stock or worse case scenario they contact other dealers and have them shipped for you... so don't worry but be careful with those crapy potholes in LA

I ran into the same situation and I running pirellis now. 255/30/21s up front. They ride harder but overall I am pleased. Apparently tread-wear is better with the pirellis.

And also narrower tire (255 vs 265) has better tread-wear.
The steering must be softer with 255 isn't it?

I think 255 is a bit small for M6 front wheels.

And yes the potholes and the construction on the street in LA is getting insane lately. So glad that I got the wheel and tire coverage this time.

Could go 275 and 305 with the stock 9.5" and 10.5" wheels too?

I am running the 255s on a 21x9 wheel with a 25 offset. It sticks out slightly more than my oem wheels so appearance wise it looks better and yes steering is slightly easier as well.

Any chance of close up pics of the sidewall? I ask because I see a car with 285/30/21 and 21x9.5" every day and those still don't look like they are straight up and down or a bit far on the wheel, both with the original Pirelli's and the new Dunlops.

Do you have Michelin PSS tyres?

Have you tired your BMW dealer ?
All the tires have BMW part numbers and are available globally through the BMW parts network

265/35/20 is BMW part number "36 12 2 284 221"

I had the same problem when I bought my set back in August (out of production, etc). I kept checking with my local Costco everyday - finally they located a set that popped up in their system and I jumped on them.

I'm holding onto my old set with 20% tread left like gold in my garage.
