2014 vs 2015

Hi Everyone,

Looking into M6 Coupe. Dealer has some cars in stock, but they are 2014. Can anyone tell me differences? I know restyling is coming which is 2016 (lights and some other details), but for 2014-2015 dealer has some nice deals.
What I noticed is that 2014 has old idrive, how about 2015? Is it different in terms of software, or is it just the look of the knob?
What are other things I should pay attention to?

Thanks in advance!

The difference between the two is VERY minimal. Idrive I believe is the only thing (I'll be honest- I don't even use my idrive system whatsoever) I leave the nav on cause it looks cool- but only really use technology wise I use is the smartphone adaptor. Other than that- I'd simply go to the best deal you can get. If you're leasing, you'll get a 2015 for MUCH cheaper than a 14 because you can lease it based off residual value (as oppose to 14s where it's dollar based) you can use the LCI coming up with the 16s which hit the dealers this summer as leverage to get an even better deal.

If you're financing- or paying up front- then you can find some 14s for 80K or so. (Autotrader has a bunch)

Others say the comp package is life changing- but honestly, I have it- and have driven a friends who doesn't- and I barely noticed anything.

Thanks for your response! What caught my eye is the knob of the idrive is same as my 2012 5 series has, so I thought if there is a difference 2014 vs 2015 M6.
Same for me for idrive, I put it on Navi or Radio. In terms of software, there was no change? Sometimes they significantly update it.
Right now dealer has 2014 M6 for $134. Comp package, Executive Package, Driver Assist Package, Bang music. What deal do you think they are willing to give? I did not ask yet, was just browsing.
Also, how is the exhaust note on Comp package? Is it OEM Performance exhaust?

I don't know what deal they are willing to give, but I know what deal you have to get nothing more than 110k is logical for a car that is built one and half years ago and 2016 model will be out there in 3 months!

Sounds like a good deal! Should I be concerned it is 2014 and was there for at least 4-5 months? Or doesn't matter as long as its with a good price
Also I am looking to lease. What would be approximate payment if the car is 110k?

It depends on lease term... for 10k/36 months something about 1200-1300

Not if its a 2014. He'll be leasing on the car at a dollar base- aka 1800-2000 a month.

If he's looking at a 2015, then you my friend- are correct

As long as he can get the current 55-56% residual, 110k selling price of a 134k M6 with 0.00129 MF, his monthly payment is in 1200-1300 range + tax; however you may be right since I have heard there is no lease program for 2014 models anymore...

Unfortunately, that's exactly why he can't get it for that price. The residual lease programs aren't available for anything older than a 2015.

It works differently when it's dollar based- and I was shocked at how expensive it was

If my memory serves me... You can get the upgraded knob (the bigger one) and the software update/patch for the 2013/14 models. I cannot remember the cost but I am sure your dealership can let you know how much it is. If it's of interest to you that is.
