Ok guys. Update on the DP's.... Absolutely Awesome. the Akra exhaust now sounds phenomenal. Like an F1 car sound. The power gains are definitely noticeable.. No drone or anything unpleasant in the slightest. I'm sure DP's do wonders no matter what exhaust you are using, I'm just referring to mine because that's what I'm hearing. No point in having a sound system anymore since the symphony coming from my car is much more appealing to listen to. I highly recommend this mod so pick your poison and go for it.

Was the Akra exhaust sound noticeably different from the stock before the DPs? I finally got to listen to some Akras in person on an M5 today (the 2 biggest tuners in my town hadnt done an exhaust on the new Ms before this one today which seems odd). I was a little disappointed that they weren't too much different than my stocks. The high RPMs were better for sure but I was expecting something more dramatic overall. Could it be cause the M6 is louder to begin with compared to the M5, wouldn't make much sense cause they're the same motor? Not sure if my expectations were too high after your guys talking about how much you liked them, or if that's what's to be expected from a nice exhaust?

I can't really comment on the stock exhaust sound to much as I changed my exhaust right after break in so I never really got a chance to open the stock exhaust up. I have however heard the stock exhaust in passing on a couple M6's and the sound is Def different. Loudness wise I know exactly what you mean when you use the word dramatic describing the Akra because it does sound deceivingly quiet especially from inside the cabin. Adding DP's adds serious drama to the sound of the Akra and opens up the the exotic exhaust note like never heard before. It's still tame when casually cruising so you don't have to worry about being to loud or anything like that but step on the gas in any kind of way and be prepared for a ton of DRAMA..... I honestly haven't turned my sound system on since the install and my sound system is a thing of beauty to hear.... The exhaust note now is absolutely incredible. A perfect mix of beauty and the beast. The car still retains the class but now has a ferocious quality to it. I can't describe it other than its like an F1 car mixed in with a hybrid beast of some kind. It's like the Akra gaining 1000lbs of muscle and tearing out of its clothing. Not sure what DP's do to a stock setup, I'm sure they will do wonders but from my experience with my current setup I can only describe it as all around perfect. People break their necks looking not because it's obnoxious loud or disturbing the peace but because it's otherworldly to them. Throw in the intakes and you have a plethora of sound coming from the car which comes together to form a symphony of beautiful, exotic, ferocious and intoxicating Bliss.

I'll post some vids /pics soon

Wow, your description of the Akra with the DPs sounds perfect. Both tuners made me think the DPs would be a bit obnoxious but it sounds like the perfect blend of mellow enough for cruising but super aggressive when you get on it. I'm sold.

You mentioned a tune, but I thought they can't crack the codes yet to do a tune? Do I need a tune to make the exhaust and DPs work right without issues? Thanks again for the input, your whip is inspiring!

It truly is a perfect combo. Don't forget I have race catted downpipes not catless. Eurocharged has a tune for the M5/M6. The top speed limiter is hard to crack but how often will u be going over 165 so it's not a deal breaker. You dont need a tune to run the downpipes or anything however a proper tune that takes all these mods into consideration will maximize performance. You won't have any issues running these mods tuneless and my cold start isn't any louder either. If anything the added sound change the DPs added might have even chilled the high pitch sound the exhaust would make on cold start a little.

Thanks again for all the info, one last question. Sounds like Dinan is pretty close to finally coming out with their tune for them and I was wondering if I should wait for that or do you think it'll be similar to what I can get from Eurocharged so no need to wait? Thanks!

No problem, anytime... as far as tune is concerned it's pretty much up to you. Dinan tunes are obviously good because they are dealer recognized and come with a warranty. Dinan tunes tend to be on the weak side and that is probably my only issue with Dinan. Another benefit is that the Dinan tune will have the top speed limiter removed. Eurocharged tune will definitely impress you and you won't be looking for more power that's for sure. It's a solid tune with OE origins. They adjust the fuel air mixture a bit and obviously like all adjust the boost levels. You Def can't go wrong with Eurocharged and if all other factors equal I would tell you 100% go Eurocharged over Dinan from experience with both. The only thing that's a huge plus but might leave you looking/wanting more is again that Dinan is backed by BMW and they should have the top speed limiter removed. I hope this helps.

Looking good, I like them a lot better than the dark blacks you had before. Still looks sinister but not the over the top murdered out vibe.

Curios why you waited a month to put them on, you posted pics of them last month and I'd have thought you'd get them on quick. I've been waiting 5 weeks for mine and I think about them daily, they're going on the day they arrive lol.

Thanks, I had them sent back out to have the centers refinished. They were initially matte but were made gloss.. the rest of the time I was out of town. What wheels did you decide to order?

Haha I like your style, the devils in the details. I'm getting 21 inch D2 Forged, titanium brushed fronts, chrome lips, black inner barrels.

I ordered some 24 inch HREs for the wifeys Rover and those have already been over 8 weeks. I'm dying for some wheels for my whips lol!

Delano it seems we all were waiting. HRE told me 6-8 weeks ended up being almost 12. Still I believe in quality and at the prices these guys are charging it should be perfect. I worry that 21 inchers will add too much unsprung wait and affect the ride. Even the tires weigh more.
