650XI GC M Sport Edition Delivered

Took delivery of my 07/13 build spec 650XI GC M Sport Edition this morning. A quick post to answer some of the various questions that have been floated about the 07/13 build. . .

It DOES have the new M Sport Steering Wheel

It DOES have the new updated iDrive 4.2

It DOES still have the powered real lateral sunshades

It DOES NOT have the new iDrive Touch Controller

And. . . still no powered trunk closer (we all knew that, but couldn't help but gripe about it again)

Sorry all, not sure why photos are inconsistent. Must be an apple thing, they're normal on my iphone and mac, but upside down on my PC.

Is the black panel screen the new all digital display (for the tach and speedo) or still the old one with the long rectangle at the bottom?

It is the new one, all digital. Changes speedo and tach display depending on what driving mode you're in. Standard now on M Sport Edition.

Quick question, when you are scrolling on the steering wheel for songs does it show up on the hud as well as the digital display?

+1. Same question on blinkers and telephone recent calls.

No turn signals in the HUD, but when HUD is active both phone info and track lists, radio stations, etc all show up. When HUD not active, all same lists replace the full tach on the digital dash. When HUD active, tach stays static and lists only show in HUD.

Nope, "comfort" doesn't extend to trunk, it's all manual.

Guess they're waiting for the facelift, in true BMW drip, drip, drip the features to make you buy another one more often fashion :/

I wonder if there's an official software update for the HUD features now then, I know you could code some of that yourself in the past, so the previous cars are clearly capable of having it.

If you have the 6wa dash (the one that comes stock with the non msport edition) you can code it in now. If you retrofitted the 6wb dash (digital display that comes with the msport edition) you can code it in with the 50.2 psdzdata, but that isn't currently available to everyone yet.

For us retrofitters, we are hopping to get it any day now.
