Competition Pack

Well following on from the late delivery of my new M6 which was due for delivery beginning of May, the dealer has called me today to say it will be with them on Thursday this week.

Problem is that I ordered the car with the competition pack and I have now learned that the competition pack is now upgraded to 600 BHP.

Cutting a long story short I told the dealer that I didn't want to accept delivery of the car with the 575HP pack!

The pack on my car was priced at £6500, so I called BMW customer services and was advised that the newer competition pack was priced at £7300.

My dealer has agreed to reduce the price of my competition pack to £3500 so I have told him that I am now happy to proceed.

Roll on Thursday!!

I have the 2015 M6 GC CP and I have told some guys from the US that they do NOT have the 2016 upgraded cars (due in july time)which they have just taken delivery of, they insist they do.
However the 2016 upgraded cars are not being delivered yet.
You will enjoy the current C P car for sure it's very quick.

Hi John

Mine is an LCI car with the new rear lights, LED adaptive front lights, full leather and adaptive seats.
I thought this was the 2016 model...

If not, how will the 2016 model differ from mine?

You're seriously misunderstanding us man.

The 2016 new LCI (different from your 2015) are available already. The difference in July is that the option to add the competition pack will then be available as part of the ordering guide, and has to be DCT. No MT comp pack will be available to us anymore.

If you don't believe me- go look at kris1858 thread that he just posted of his new m6- photos included (headlights/nav screen/rear lights are the most obvious upgrades)

If that's not enough, then what did they build for me?

Again- none of us are claiming to have the comp package on our 2016 cars, because we CANT add it yet here. However, the 2016 (LCI) m6 have been here already since last month.

Congratulation and enjoy the ride of your beast...

Let me correct some numbers and have our forum more clear and realistic for people who read our threads ok?
The current Competition Package (2015 model) is 575 Ps (567 BHP) and the new CP is 600 Ps (591 BHP) while the standard HP of S63tu is 560 Ps (552 BHP) or 412 Kw. The European horse power is Ps (metric horse power) and for some reasons when people translate to standard horse power (BHP) they forget to take the conversion factor into the account.

It's possible he has comp pack being in the UK. Didn't they say they were releasing it there a few months earlier than in the US?

That's what I thought.

I've got the 2016 with probably the last 575 competition pack.

In hindsight, probably not too bad a thing. I've managed to get a good chunk of discount off the competition pack price, and the 600 competition pack is going to be priced at over 7k.

2 sleeps left.....

Can't wait!

To be honest, I can't really believe the deals they are doing on these cars currently.

It's not far off them paying me to have it!!

I've just got out of a 997 Turbo PDK, so lets see how this thing compares...

I was thinking about moving over to the 997 turbo PDK, I currently have a 2012 model with various upgrades . Any feed back on the 997 would be appreciated so I don't make the wrong decision .

Thanks

Could somebody tell me if he tried runs on vbox ? 100-200kmh, 60-130mph
I would like to know owners opinions of M5/M6 with comp pack 575PS and without comp pack 560PS.
Is there any difference between 575PS and 600PS ? maybe it's time to replace M6 575PS to M6 600PS

As a reference C&D performed 60-130 mph for M6GC non CP and reported 9.4 second . You can compare this number with yours; however you have 150 lb less weight advantage too on top of CP ..

I'm sure there is significant difference between them... My guess is at least 0.3-0.5 second difference in case of 60-130 mph or 100-200 km/h (575 Ps vs 600 Ps) ...

£7k really! Mines pulling a real 730hp and that was £2k and totally reversible. Granted its not a BMW remap but since its Warrentee safe who cares!
I would say that for the UK roads its overkill once your past the NSL.

Yeah you are right. With 2k you can achieve 700+ HP but then:
1. The car is tuned by non BMW Engineering team (who designed this engine at the first place).
2. If something happens to the car (ie Engine or DCT), warranty might be voided if some BMW expert teams want to investigate and read the error codes stored on ECU (or DME).
3. I'm sure non of tuners have valid data about actual specifications and limitations of S63tu/DCT/Differential
4. CP is not just about power. There are many more things such as steering, suspension, sway bars, Exhaust.... and even rims (worth $1300 in US).

There was a polling thread over M5post and we observed the Malfunction Drivetrain error message comes up 160% more on tuned car compare to stock cars and most of them were related to HPFP ... this is telling me something serious

Yes I am sure a tuned car will suffer more than a modded one. As for picking up the tune, all trace is removed if needed inc update counts etc. Also why bother adjusting other bits as the M6 is awsome for what it is, just needed a power hike.
Bmw are good and this is a factory built forged engine with allot of headroom for more power. My old LS3 survived 640 boosted hp on cast pistons due to careful ownership so I am sure this thing will.
I just think BMW are taking the piss and relying on people's insecurities to pay way OTT. Just look at the Acrposhit exhaust and the mark-up they add to "factory" fit!

Also the link given gives details about DT faults not failures.... and TBH id happily upgrade the clutch and baskets to hold the near 1000nm torque I have as that's asking allot of a stock gearbox. I've actually stopped all use of s3 setting as no need for such a hard change.

Makes me chuckle all this tuning by laptops etc.
Christ, when I was 17 I used to tune my Mini 1275 GT by changing the pistons to Spitfire pistons, installing a Peco exhaust with a long centre manifold, changing to a 649 cam and installing twin Webers.
After all this I reckon the power of my beast jumped from 52 to about 59 HP!
Buy hey, I felt a great sense of achievement, even though I had to weld a biscuit tin in the centre of the dash cos the Webers poked through!

Is it only me?
I loved that car because it was all I could afford, but now that I can afford whatever I want, I just don't get the same buzz!
