Following up on this. The buzz happened at a specific speed range (47-50mph) after my track tires (Toyo R888R) wore down, irrespective of road conditions. I since swapped to fresh Michelins and the buzz is completely gone. The buzz also happened on very old Michelins before the track tires as I mentioned above but only on rougher roads at a higher speed. The propensity of the buzz clearly changes depending on the harmonics and vibrations from the road through the tires and into the steering coloumn.
