Recall for new NAV map update?

My Service Advisor just called me to have my car brought in for a recall to install the new NAV map.

I thought we had to pay for these things? No?

Anyone get this, or do this recall?

Since I just picked up my 640GC 2 weeks ago at the Welt, I doubt if it applies, BUT I did take my '13 X3 in for service a couple months back and they did this update. I was told the car was released with not the most current mapping data and apparently they knew it and just handled it as a "campaign" when it came in for something else. I never received a formal recall notice.

Frankly I noticed absolutely nothing any different. Must be just new streets, etc.

A recall is for safety only so this is not a recall IMHO . This would be a 'quality enhancement' ie an update they should have done previously.

You ever turn into a street that's no longer a two-way highway because of your NAV?

What year/model is your car and do you know what NAV version you had or have if they've already done the update?
