M650i GT - is it confirmed?

More and more interested in 6GT based on its practicality to substitute my current 440xi GC MPPSK.

Is M650i GT confirmed or at least possible given production / development plans? It's mentioned in few older articles like this one:

Question would not keep my hopes high

article is back from 2016, it was all stuff of rumours back at that stage

so far all that rumours turned out to be is simply M-Performance parts retrofit being available on 6GT (exhaust, better brakes and 21" wheels + lots of bells and whistles cosmetic finishings) - I guess thats all that journalists saw and just got a bit over exited.

I would not be hopeful on 650i or M version of 6GT before 2021, esp. since 8 series took the centre stage now and there is 8-series 4-door Gran Coupe already officially announced for 2020.

Btw. go for it! I got 640i GT it to be my family car (I am biker so not really kin on having 2 cars). From practical perspective it has tones of space and comfort is top notch. I switched from SQ5 SUV - 6GT has way more space and handles much better than SUV. Only complain is that I get less steering feel and suspension is less stiff (which takes away from driving but adds a lot in terms of comfort).

640i has 340bhp so should have plenty of power, drive won't be as nice as in 440i due to weight and comfort of 640i but you won't regret.

Is there really? That'd be interesting.
