Thanks!
And yeah, I know how you feel. When I picked up the car it was missing the (2) little AC knob covers in the back seat. Just knowing they were missing drove me crazy, even though I never looked back there.

Spent $60 just to get the little dial covers that nobody cared about but me...
Still, hope you like it! I was debating on the crosshairs myself.

Are you destroying the original knob to install this one? Or can you convert back easily if you don't like this one?

You can swap it back.

The only thing you do is pop the OEM black cap (that has the little arrows) and this knob/wheel slides over the existing piece. Then you secure the new cap with double-sided tape.

Takes less than 5 minutes once you know how to pop the original cap off.

Any tips for how to remove the original cap without damaging it or the knob?

I hust got a thin blade and stuck in vertically in between the cap and the silver hosel. It pops right off. The middle part is actually just a piece of plastic popped in there.

try double sided tape or chewing gum stick and pull, may come off.

So I got the knob and replaced it in my 528i.

In terms of its appeal, it looks better because it's bigger & cleaner.
But I wouldn't put it in my M5 or M6. It's not the same as a large factory-mm button. I would consider it too cheap to put in a car of that prestige; I would be fine with the smaller knob, or just dropping 1k on the real thing.

Better than factory

Personally I think it looks better than factory, I like the logo on the knob.
