Certified Pre-Ownwd M6 GC or Used M6 GC
I was wondering which one I should get, I know the CPO M6 GC has warranty and they charge a premium over normal used M6's but is it really worth it? Im financing the car too. My Current 5er is financed too and I ran into 2 major services which were something to do with the timing of the starter, the car wouldnt start so they changed that and the brake pads were changed for free. Is the Warranty really worth it or I would be better off getting a used m6 gc for $7,000-9,000 less than CPO with same mileage numbers.

If the answer was so clear cut, BMW would be out of warranty business

Get the used M6 and just take care of it and you'll be fine...
Your car falls apart if you drive it like a madman or if you take it where it's not supposed to be taken. |

There are a number of aftermarket warranties, with varying prices and degrees of positive reports. I went with Autopom for my F13 because it's an exclusionary policy, reasonably priced at about $3500-ish, with a $100 deductible, I have my choice of dealership or independent repair shop (as long as they're ASE certified), and the company is reviewed well.
The problem with ANY such policy is that you don't know if you're going to have a problem until after you have a problem, if you know what I mean. So, to a degree, it's a crap shoot. Do your research and let us know what you decide and why! |

"Get the used M6 and just take care of it and you'll be fine..." If this were the case there would be no need for warranties. If you depend on the car as a daily, then my suggestion is to get a warranty. M cars are complicated, and expensive to repair. Simple things can break from normal driving. You also have no idea how the po treated a used car. A CPO is worth about $3k for a 1 year extension and $5k for a 2 year (the cost of a platinum bmw extended warranty.
My 2013 just had to have the valve cover gasket replaced (they fail due to heat). Its a cheap part but labor intensive job. I also lost an air mass sensor, replaced under warranty, and a chaffed seat wire caused the electric seat to fail, again a cheap repair but labor intensive. If the engine or turbo or dct fails...... If you buy an M6 that is still under factory warranty you can buy a factory extended warranty and get the same warranty benefits as a cpo (and you don't have to buy the car at the dealer).

BMW offers gold and platinum. My platinum was $5200 7/70k (2 years beyond in service date, 70k total miles) was $250 of and Maryland does not charge sales tax on extended warranties. Saved $580
