Do aftermarket wheels void warranties?

Do aftermarket wheels void warranties? Got a set of 22 inch Forgiatos coming in, I know most people do 20s or 21s...Anyways, I've heard from someone it might void the warranty. I wouldnt think so since im not messing with the suspension just wheels off and on. Anyone know this to be true?

Actually the correct answers is yes, but only if the addition or modification caused the damage to the vehicle. So wheels of a certain offset, need for spacers, or size, could adversely effect the suspension causing premature wear or failure and a dealer/BMW could then deny a warranty claim.

I'd be more worried about the ride on 22's!

If your dealer tries to void your warranty because of aftermarket wheels turn around and quickly go to another dealer. Lol

If you have a good service rep you could tell him/her and see what feedback you get. 22s could upset the suspension geometry and lead to premature bushing failure. I would think risk is small.

I have always had aftermarket custom rims (one size up to a 20 on my 2007 M6 cab, one size up to a 21 on my 2016 M6 Cab, 22's on my 2011 S63 AMG, 22's on my 2015 S63 AMG and 22's on my 2017 GLS 63 AMG)

If set up correctly for your car ... it is a non issue ... ie no rubbing and plenty of room

I have yet to have a problem not covered by Manufacturer's warranty ... but the relationship with your dealer is key! Foster a good one before bad things happen ALWAYS HELPS!!!

For sure 22" rim will affect the suspension and definitely shocks... The other effect would be the axles and most probably the aluminum sub-frame...and beside all axle angles will be affected...

if you're still under warranty when the premature wear sets in, just swap your OEM wheels back on before heading in to the dealer. 22" wheels will definitely decrease the strut and bushing lifespan. It's the simple fact that you will have less rubber absorbing the bumps, and the impact from the potholes and uneven pavement transfers more directly to the suspension components.

I DO AGREE ... THE 22'S ON THE AMG'S RIDE ROUGHER ... BUT LOOK SO GOOD OVER THE 20'S AND 21'S

One thing you need to know ... if there is even a slight shimmy or problem (I HAD A SET OF3 PIECE DPEs that would unbalance in rain) ... I needed a new front end suspension components for my 2011 S63 AMG as the bouncing when unbalanced created a problem with the S63 AMG front suspension components and control units ... READ VERY EXPENSIVE WARRANTY BILL TO REPLACE SUSPENSION COMPONENT AND ELECTRONIC/COMPUTER CONTROL UNITS FOR THE AIR SUSPENSION FOR THAT CAR ... my relation with my dealer helped with the repairs ...

I AM NOW RUNNING ONE PIECE 22'S ON MY S63 AMG AND GLS 63 AMG ... THE M6 IS THREE PIECE REVERSE LIP 21s custom made by ARISTO... BUT NOT DRIVEN IN THE RAIN AND I TRACK IT ON THE STOCK RIMS WITH SLICKS

Hope this helps
