Is there a better car?
This is obviously a question that everyone will have a different opinion on, but... I have a '14 M6 CP which I've done a few mods to, and really enjoy. I've come into a little money so I started looking around, and I can't seem to find anything else that I want enough to buy to replace my M6... I don't really like Porsches (nothing personal, great cars, but just don't really do it for me). I like the combo of luxury and totally insane HP/TQ. Some of the Mercedes AMG options (S63, GT-S/R) look tempting but I'm just not sure there's enough of an upgrade there.... I'm eagerly waiting for more info on the upcoming M8....
Any cars I should look at? Or should I just stick with my M6 and maybe keep modding it? Thoughts? . Thanks! |

$200k? Wow, wish my budget was that big. There's a lot of options that open up if you're willing to go above $120k range.
Just from the top of my head what you can consider that's not a Porsche: Preowned F430 Preowned F458 Preowned Gallardo LP car or Huracan (IMO, a standard issue LP 560-4 or a LP 610-4 is a very capable car) Audi R8 V10 AMG GT-S/R C7 Z06 Preowned C6 ZR1 Preowned V12 Vantage Nismo GTR Acura NSX If my budget was $200k, I wouldn't be in a M6. Pretty much every car I've listed is just a faster and quicker car than the M6. Now if there's other things to consider, then the list dwindles and changes altogether. Do you need to carry people in the back? Do you need to install a child seat? Is it 100% street driven? Does it need to be an all-weather car?

Thanks Flying Ace!!! That's a good list!!
I've driven a few Lamborghinis, and while I love them, the ones I've driven aren't what I'd want for my daily driver (maybe too showy?, too spartan/track focused). I really do like the luxury GT aspects of the M6 (no road noise, amazingly comfortable seats, heated seat/steering wheel, HUD, etc... I rarely have people int eh back, but I do it occasionally and its a nice option. I have a Jeep I use when it's snowy out, but otherwise my M6 is my daily driver... |

ahh there you go, you're more of a luxury GT type driver. Hmm...IMO, the M6 does it the best in terms of an all-rounder for the money spent.
Again, if you don't like the Porsche, the Panamera Turbo IMO is a close second to the M6, you can look into a Bentley or the SL63 AMG. There are a ton of AMG options: CLS, E, SL, but I feel like in all applications, BMW M does it better, and neither companies really can differentiate their products from its own line. For example, I think the E and CLS are very close in what is offered as is the M5 and M6. The SL is pretty unique, but again I think the M6 is just a better car in the category, but the M6 has minimum differentiation between the GC, Coupe and Vert, wheras the SL looks and drives completely different than the AMG sedans. There's also the Audi RS7, and I'm going to bet you'll be the only one you know who has one. I've probably only seen one on the street my entire life, but again, I think the M6 is a better car in the category. If it's my daily car, and I want it to look amazing, unique but not too overstated or showy....I would get the V12 Vantage or a DBS

Thanks man! yeah maybe I'm getting old but I am digging the GT and more luxury aspects of the M6 (upgraded from a E92 M3). I have thrown it around a track a couple times still with much joy, but.. yeah daily driver, comfort, hmmm
Honestly I can't stand the looks of the Panamera (although spec wise its nice). Yeah some of the AMG options look nice, but not nice enough to want to plunk down the extra $$$ and replace the M6... Maybe I'm in the perfect car for me now! |

I don't know, if you're willing to spend up to $200 for a GT car, an Aston is too tempting for me.
If it's my $200 for what I want...I'll probably do a R8 V10 from my list.

Yeah I do drool over the R8... no question. Maybe its worth a test drive.
I should re-visit the astons as well. My friend has an '07 DB9 I think. Fun car, but tons of road noise and very ganky nav/computer... But that's 11 years ago... so.. |

That's a ridiculous budget
I pretty much agree with all of what Flying Ace has mentioned. But I will add this to the mix: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ode1=ASTONDB11 |

devondragon The '17 Audi RS7 is an AWD, and had a quite an impressive set-up. It's mind blasting quick. All the other sedans are meh except maybe the e63s. And I wouldn't mind adding a Bentley Continental Sport to the mix if you're shooting for under 200K -- nice couple of '15-'16s out there.

AMG GTS w AMG dynamic package.. Can be ECU tuned for a whole mess of power. like the m6.. Insanely capable car in stock trim, and pretty luxurious too! Already has taken a decent depreciation hit..well sorted ones for 100k..

If you're thinking Aston, think Rapide. It's the 4-door version, and it's gorgeous. Probably all the customary A-M electrical gremlins, but again, it's gorgeous.

I can't get over the thick door panels on the Rapide.

I honestly think it depends what you’re looking for in a car. Do you want luxury/comfort or speed/fun?
There are faster cars for the money, Z06, Z28, 911 turbo, ZL1, hellcat, Tesla, GTR etc. They’re uncomfortable, PIA to get in and out, obnoxiously rough ride, lack many many comfort options as well, but a smile is on your face when you step on them. There are also more luxurious like the bmw M760, Audi s8, panamera, rapide, Bentley, new MB s550(friggin gorgeous interior), etc. Nothing like getting into a panamera at night and waiting for door lights to dim perfectly into the ambient lighting. Ive driven/rode in most of the cars mentioned on this thread and can tell you that the M6 is the best of both worlds, luxury and speed. I would not however buy it in coupe form. If I’m in a two door car I much rather be in a Z06 or 911 turbo. |

They haven’t changed that at all, it is still very outdated and pixelated. I thought it was a joke when I was in a rapide and saw that small pixelated screen pop up at an angle facing the cup holder.

Yes I did, my friend let me drive his a 2016 s63 coupe ,its a beautiful car and the interior is insane looks like a cheap strip club inside ,I will tell you know the car is a dog out of the whole theres something with the transmission that doesnt let the car launch and there is no race start,I actually called Renntech for him and thats what they told me its the tranny there is no TCU update for it as of now and I don't think there will be.I mean that car really isn't meant for that its a autobahn cruiser.
I have a e63s myself and learned this last year im a true BMW fan ,I owned an M3 ,2- 535 x drives and now a 17 330 sport wagon ,looking to sell or trade the e63 for a M6 GC but before I dive in Im going to do my research ,believe it or not this vid helped me make my decision |
