My passenger side grill needs to be replaced but would look good in a picture like this. Where they go bad is on top where the chrome goes over a ridge at the back of the smooth part. It just starts to crack and detach there and bubbles up. Not sure who first thought chroming plastic was a good idea, abut that's where we are these days.

On a semi related note, saw this the other day... Thoughts? I think it looks interesting, but would probably not put on my car.

After I posted about they reminded me of the new Lincoln front grilles...it dawned on me that the new BMW Z4 actually comes with new kidney grilles that actually look like that. So they actually are not an appropriation of Lincoln grilles...but actually are copies of the new Z4.

I don't know...I don't hate them but I don't love them. Kinda mixed. Agree with all black option :-)

Yeah, sorry for not including this with the link. This grille design is now on Z4 and new 3 series.
Never thought of Lincoln, but yes, they are very similar.

Just saw this Z4 in an advertisment...and it looks like its new style kidneys are all black...or is it just a photographic illusion?

Frupal...did you ever sell these? I replied to another forum member selling a set that is on this side of the Mississippi...but he hasn't responded yet. I usually see a post by you just about everyday...so you're my possible back-up plan.

Pics below shows some differences between the pre LCI 10 slat grilles and the LCI 9 slat grilles. Not only are there more slats on the pre LCI grille...the shape at the top of the slats are different and the slats are chromed differently and the sides have a different color:

• 10 slat pre LCI grille - slats are chromed on half of the front side...and gray on the other half which is also cut at a sharp angle toward the side of the slat
• 10 slat pre LCI grille - side of slats are gray
• 9 slat LCI grille - slats are chromed on entire front side
• 9 slat LCI grille - sides of slats are black

I bought the ebay grilles as I thought they would give the car a fresher look. Initially I was worried about the black surround given my car is blue but now they are on I’m very pleased. All a matter of personal preference obviously.
