Purchase another M6 or go X6M? Or....
Hello all,
In November I leased a 2016 M6 convertible. Got an incredible deal! Loved the car had an M3 e93 before so it was a nice upgrade. A few months into it... in mid January I was in my first ever :::knocks on wood::: car accident. I was very fortunate and came out of the accident with only a bone fracture to the eye socket. Car was in bad shape, so the safety features did their job! Now that I am getting back to speed... I have to face the reality of another car purchase. One very small side of me said to go with a banger car, or mid price SUV. Then the majority of me said go back to BMW and see what they've got. Test drove a 2017 X6M and honestly... loved it. Great ride & power... feels like you're in a sports car. Very good looking too. Unfortunately BMW Financial wanted to give me a slightly higher (+1 point) rate because the M6 was still showing on my credit report. Even though they acknowledge the M6 was paid off... they couldn't offer me the same rate as they did 3 months prior. So I walked... and now debating on: 1. Wait the 2-3 weeks it will take for my credit report to refresh and get the X6M. 2. Shop around and find a good deal on a new or very slightly used M6. 3. Any other cars out there to consider? Test drove an Audi S7. Liked it, didnt love it. Thought about a RR SVR but not sure I'd like it after the first few months. What to do???? |

Uh..you really can't wait 2-3 weeks?
Self control, sir. When I special ordered my m6- it took 6 months (thats 24 weeks) and drove a Yaris in the mean time. I say wait. Keep yourself busy til then.

I tried to go back to a closed vehicle from an E93 M3, 4 months and 6,000 miles later I went back to the M3 E93, then the M6. Of course, I understand the allure of an suv, my wife has a Cayenne. Ask yourself this: 1. Do you need to haul stuff frequently, do you carry 3+ people alot, do you like sitting up high, do you prefer to let the car shift? If so, get the X6m (I would personally go X4 though, I know no true M). If not.....back to M6?

Part of me knows I just have to shop around and find another great deal like I did with the M6 (about $13k off MSRP brand new). |

M6-Copue is right, What do you like? Which one you like more than the other one? Define yourself, suave sophisticated coupe lover who didains rear passenger comfort, or German redneck who hauls sh*t and actually cares if his kids or guests can fit in the second row. As for the ZF Tranny, I haven't driven it in a power BMW but in the Jag F Type it was almost as fast as the dct in the M6.
M6-Coupe- Why did you go to M4?? And your thoughts

I'm trying to convince myself that the M6 has 2 isofix...or maybe the missus needs an F11 520d 6MT (yes she prefers manuals) |

In November the deal I got on the M6 added up to about $16k in discounts (original msrp of $130k). So what I mean by "shop around" was find another deal like this one. Not many brand new M6s going for 16k under msrp unless they are used or older. I've seen some listings, but nothing local anyway. I'm talking to a dealer across the country now to see if there are any possibilities. I mentioned the X6M because it's already cheaper and I was trying to make another deal happen with the same dealer. Just thought I'd ask other M6 owners on their opinion. I didn't get to own the M6 for very long so I do hope to find another good deal like my previous M6. 2016 M6 brand new (msrp $129,999) 36 month lease / 15k mi per year Payment was $1226 w/ gap insurance. So yea, pretty solid deal. I know I'll have trouble finding another one. :/ oh well... |
