Missing Passenger Footwell Light?
Just got my first BMW ever! A used 2013 640i. I've always liked the style of a 6 series and the N55 engine. Can't stop smiling behind the driver's seat!
I just found that the passenger side appears to be missing a light. There's a cutout for it but no actual light. I'm assuming this is not normal? Does anyone know how to put one on it? |

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the car. I would start by taking the plastic panel off and seeing what you find behind it. The light could possibly be back behind there still. If not, go to Real OEM and put in your VIN and then do a systematic search for the light and P/N. You can then order the light fixture from a variety of vendors. It's a super simple fix.

Ditto...the post above. If the light assembly is missing...the front passenger footwell "courtesy light" is #4 in the diagram and part nbr index. You can call your local BMW dealership's parts department (or stop by) to order it...or you can use the 11 digit BMW part nbr to shop for it online (ie BMW xx xx x xxx xx {where x=the actual bmw part nbrs})

From what I remember, if you remove that panel there should be one connector going to the airbag, and one for that light. Should be simple to find once the panel is down. And while the panel is off you may want to consider changing your cabin air filters since you’re already halfway there at that point too. |

I was wondering if the reason the footwell light is not visible is that someone replaced the recirculation filters and didn’t put the light back in place before replacing the cover.

Update:
I found the connector after taking off the panel. See the pic. It appears that someone didn’t put back the light after replacing the cabin air filter(most likely). I’m going to buy a light bulb and simply put it on. Thanks for all your advice! |
