NBT Evo Retrofit

Next up on my possible mod list if retrofitting the NBT Evo unit. I really want to get Apple CarPlay working. I've seen a couple of people have done it but not provided many details. I also know that there is the possibility you lose SOS function but I want to know if there is any way to keep that.

Has anyone done it, either from a supplier who sells you the kit or sourcing the parts individually (my preference)?

I've got exactly the same itch to scratch, I've got nbt and want to upgrade to nbt evo for idrive 5. From what I've seen, the DIY routes need a vin code emulator unless you get the head unit coded by someone like bimmertech. Would much rather lean and do it myself.
