M6 on the way! manual transmission, pics

Gents,

I've got a grey/orange M6 MANUAL tranny coming this week to Houston. Only one in the country. I want to be involved more thus always stick to manual transmissions. Should be quite the tire burner.

Coming from a M3 and Z4M. While heavy, the power should be something. I drove a DCT M6 but not hard as it was new and I don't disrespect someone's future car so no real idea how powerful thing will be. AA tune next month after break-in to 640 HP. Any manual tranney owners out there or who has drove one? TY.

@new pics@@@

Note the BMW performance grill ISNT black FYI. I didn't know this.

Added a few new pics, pick him up today in the rain... ugh.

Thank you, I know the DCT out shifts a human but it for me removes that driver involvement.

My grandfather worked for ford for 40 years. He had one of those HUGE long hooded personal coupes from the 70's. Car was hilarious heavy and huge. The M6 INHO offers some of that personal coupe idea but not 5000 pounds running on 195 tires.

What does he think of it? Compared to DCT. I wasn't implying it was only one here, just the only one we could find for sale.

Congrats on the new ride, looks great with the Sakhir Orange. I was very excited when I found out that BMW offered manual again on there sedans. That was the main factor when I started searching for a 4 door.

Mine should be here Wednesday or Thursday .

You will be just fine and you will love the connection to the car's power/torque delivery thru a manual transmission. I have a 6 speed manual F10 M5 for almost a year and I would not have it any other way, remember 4th gear is the one. My next car will most likely will be an M6 GC 6 speed MT...

Awesome! how does the manual mesh with all that power? Driver involvement much better? A gran coupe with a manual is a mean, sneaky SOB!

My first M5 was a 2002 E39 M5, and the transmission on the F10 M5 is much smoother, the clutch does not feel as heavy but of course it is not light clutch by any means. The shifter is just right for me, no need for a short shifter. I had a Dinan short shifter in my E39 M5 but that car needed it. Of course it is not a S2000's shifter.

You can definitely use the "throttle blip" when downshifting but not available in M mode. When in M mode is all about the driver, you will have a more responsive throttle to manage so your shifting has to quick and smooth.

Forget about numbers and the so called expert reviews, and just drive the car hard to the limits and enjoy it. The 6 speed MT is what makes these new M5/M6/M6GC cars a true driver's experience. Yes the involvement is much better, no doubt IMO. Traffic or no traffic, every morning I look to shift all day long. I guess I am alone on this one vs. the so called experts because I truly believe that this car is much better with a 6 speed manual.

If you have any other Qs feel free to ask or PM...
