I'm not trying to be a dick, but honestly what more did you want in the engine? More power? Higher revving? No camshaft?
Yes all of the above. Thanks!

Sounds better than a stock F90 without MPE but thats about it. E60 & E39 sound better than any new 4 door masersti.

E39 has always been a beast. Classic. Timeless.

Yes. More revs, maybe a return to ITB. Just signs of life at the division that used to stand for Motorsports. Aside from the E36 to E46 M3 motors (the real ones, not the US S52) it's hard to think of M ever doing less developmental work for a new M motor.

They're just sticking to a warmed over version of a nearly ten year old motor design. I'm sure it's a fine lump, but M used to do new, interesting things, not just skate by on past accomplishments.
Don't forget the S65 and S85... you can trace he F1 lineage in these all aluminum motors.

That F10 sounds like a diesel truck.

Perhaps it's my age - but I still value the feel and auditory input from a proper NA motor. Absolute performance is NOT my primary motivator (else I'd be driving a P100D).

I Love my F10, But I miss the sound of my previous E60. That V10 was Pure Sex.

When I heard that sweat V10 sound from E60 I felt so sad, there will be no more sound like that in the future, ever.

Maybe you can go back in time 102 years and tell that to Bayerische Motoren Werke, and later its ///Motorsport division. I can't wait to drive my BEW E3 to work tomorrow, with its ///Enginesport V8.

How sad that BMW won't do stuff like this anymore but Ford made a bespoke flat-plane, 8,300rpm, 526hp N/A V8 for a $55k Mustang...

Agreed. At this point, it is safe to say that this engine will continue till the end of the ICE era.

Let’s not focus on what can’t be done and try to embrace the good things that have been done. The new car seems to be great at a many things that its predecessors could not do and it is doing it in a time when there is so much competition that did not exist in the past.

Indeed. Which is why I decided that I'm getting another E60 M5 or E63 M6 next after I finish my project with my F10. I'll wait 4-6 years for a used F90 M5 LCI Competition Package.

In the mean time, I'll fix up an E60 and make it reliable. I can't wait to have an F1 sounding M5 again!

E28 and E39 sound understated and nice.

E60 to me sounds like an imitation Ferrari.

Can't decide if I like the F90.

The s54 (e46 M3 engine) only shares 3 parts with the S50B32 (euro e36 M3 engine, and they're pretty inconsequential parts. They are both high revving inline 6 cylinder engines, which will result in similarities in design, but virtually every component was replaced.

The s65 also shares parts with the S54

Lets not piss about.....E60 V10 all day! followed by the 39, I think the V10 is the best stock exhaust note ever produced by BMW.
Current models only dream of sounding as good!

God I miss that car....

Great contribution.

In actuality, BMW M had commented at the time of the S65 release that there was plenty that could still be done to improve NA motor output and reduce emissions. I think the quote was something to the effect that "plenty of R&D is still on the table".

The emissions rules kicked in and the rest is sad history.

So just food for thought, for BMW to continue selling cars they need to hit certain emissions and fuel mileage targets. That is why your V10 is dead. And M is pretty dead. Now it's just aero and fart noises to appease the inner 10 year olds of middle aged folk.

So sad.

I think the v10 sounds the best! but the F90 sounds good in this video

And the f90 has adjustable valves on the exhaust
M performance exhaust could help also
