Autoblog has just posted their photos and reaction from an early preview of the 2012 BMW 6-series coupe from Munich. The F13 6-series coupe [official info and photos] will make its world public debut at the Shanghai Motor Show in two weeks, alongside the just revealed F10 M5.

The F13 coupe's head design Karim Habib revealed to Autoblog that the inspiration for the F13 came from the BMW 3.0 CS from the 1960-70s – notably the long wheelbase, lengthened hood, and sharknose front.

Another interesting bit is that the F12 convertible info was introduced prior to the F13 coupe because it makes up the majority (60%) of 6-series sales in the U.S.

Head on over to Autoblog for their entire reaction and photos.

2012 6 Series Coupe pics

Um, yeah, what Jason said.

(I had posted this in the BMW general forum before he got the story up on the front page.)

Much better looking than the convertible.

I think we can expect the F32 to look not too far off from this.

+1 .. I like it too. With a few exterior mods it'll look so bad ass.

I guess if they brought back the 8 series, it'd be the size of a tractor trailer since this fits in the same market that was in. Or may be an ocean liner since the vert took styling cues from boats.

I seen the convertible the other day on the road and it looked good. The coupe does look better so I wonder how that will look when I see it!

Front of a Z4, roofline of a 335, and the rear of a 5....must've took all of 3days to mash this together. It looks good and I would expect some similarities - but this doesn't look like there was any creativity involved. My $0.02.

Sat in the cabrio yesterday, was not that exciting, coupe looks like a winner, though on the outside, like the old model better.

That's an insult to the Z4, 335, and 5. The new 6 is massive fail for me. It looks like a female bird or something. No masculinity/sportiness whatsoever. It will appeal to middle aged females who buy 100k gt cars (read, nobody).
